[ But then he pulls the device from his pocket and speaks into it brusquely. ] Anyone's got photos of me, I don't want them. Haven't seen any worth keeping.

Except -- [ He pauses, and then continues more quietly. ] Less you find one of a planet with orange sky. Might want a look at that.

Rose's. Brought her back a bit... late. About a year late.

Late, early, sideways, wrong planet, wrong galaxy. Yeah. [ He doesn't sound upset, though. More fond, like you'd talk about a partner's bad habits. ]

Never got me slapped before, though, I can tell you. Entirely new experience.

[Altight, so teasing aside, he does answer seriously and honestly now.] So far the curse seems to have skipped over me though. I guess the City knows that I don't care what people see of me or my past. [Annnd he's back to fudging the truth with a joke. There are a handful of things he would care about people seeing of him.]

[ He'll cop up to it, though. ] I do a lot of traveling with my companion, Rose. Promised to get her home on time, but ended up... oh, about a year late. Her mum was a bit upset.

Oh, yeah. My mom would have been all sonic scream woman at you too. I'm not sure she would have slapped you though. You just would have had to listen to a good ol' Summers lecture.

I usually try to avoid all the domestic. Never had a companion before who wanted to drop in regularly on her mum. But she wasn't coming with us, definitely. [ Very firm! ]

Oh so this whole companion thing is a regular gig for you? Like... you just go around picking them up in... places?

[Oh my goodness, if the Doctor only knew all of the whys and hows that are going through Dawn's mind right now, he'd probably blush and run far, far away. But give her a moment while she cycles through all of those thoughts before she speaks up again.] So this Rose, pretty name by the way, it's all Titanic-love... But anyway, so Rose is the latest. And you picked her up and took her...? And... uhm...
