[There's a mewing, a slight jangling and a sigh.] Seriously? Whatever this 'bad wolf' thing is going on around the City, it's on my cats tags, too. No name, no address incase he wanders off. Just the words 'bad wolf' over and over, all various sizes.

And it's all in my recipe books. Glad I have the one I wanted to make tonight memorized.

[and out.]

[FILTERED TO: ED. NOT HACKABLE.]

I was just told that something might possibly coming that my fire can't harm.

[she just leaves the DO YOU KNOW HOW SCARED SILLY I AM?! implied.]

[The apartment is (as it has been since Chekov's arrival) a bit of a mess. There are gutted electronics arranged in seemingly random groupings and all manner of wires and metal scraps. Papers--some crowded with Cyrillic, others with incomprehensible diagrams, still others obviously maps-in-process--are pinned on the wall and scattered about.

Chekov is sitting on the floor in the midst of what might have, at one time, been a usable electronic. Or maybe several. He has tools on hand (some familiar, some likely wholly unfamiliar to Charlie) and is messing with the internal workings of a half-assembled... gun-shaped thing.]

I am making something.

[Don't worry, Charlie. The sofa is actually free of debris, as couch cushions don't make very good work surfaces.]

How would I find anything if I put it all away? [He knows where everything is, okay. The layout is perfectly logical and--no, it's not logical, but it makes sense to him. He doesn't look up from his project.]

A free-electron laser. It is not so good as a phaser, but it worked very well on the monsters underground and I think that, if I alter this so that it creates an electrically conducive plasma channel by ionizing a focused stream of atmospheric particles instead of merely channeling electrons into a narrow beam, it will be very powerful. [This is all said with illustrative hand gestures that don't illustrate much at all.]
