[SPLASH! The viewscreen gets splattered with water as one Nick Ryves tumbles unceremoniously into the fountain.
He quickly gets out with all the grace and offended dignity of a cat. A normal person might have made some kind of exclamation, a cry of shock, or start calling for someone they know.
Nick doesn't have to do any of these things. One quick glance around is enough to tell him Alan isn't here, and this isn't England.
If you happen to be passing by the fountain, you might want to leave. Fast. Close to a cold, west, confused Nick Ryves is not the safest place to stand.]

action; sorry, work hated me a lot
Whoa, hold there, hormones. Bad.]
Right, well. I'll give you a brief version of events - when we get pulled in here, time at home seems to stop. I'm not sure why we're here for, but it's nothing pretty or nice, and this is obviously run by some powerful people. Deities, they're called. It's basically a world outside of any world, except it's not a world at all, it's a city. And it's called the City.
action; work hates me too sob
Where's Alan?
action;
He's not here. He...used to be. You used to be here, too, but you both - left. Jamie, too.
action;
[Even he's not sure what he means. Lying that they had been here before? Lying that Alan's not here now? It's reflex more than anything else, trying to deny reality. A world that doesn't have Alan in it has no point in existing.]
action;
It's true. People can come and go and return without remembering they were ever here, for some reason. Probably so we could have this conversation more often, seeing how lovely it is. Don't burn the shop. Please.
action;
That's what I did before, huh?
[He hates this feeling, like he's a rerun of a tv show episode she's seen before. It makes him self-conscious in a way he's not used to being.]
action;
No, you didn't. Alan was here, the last time. You don't generally burn things, when Alan is...around. And unthreatened.
[She can't explain why, but there's a sudden, subtle need to just...stand closer. Calm him down. But why would he need to be calmed down? He looks better already.
Her gaze lands on a pile of towels in the shop, one of which she takes and approaches him with.]
Here, let me help. You look like an angry wet cat. Very unsexy.
action;
I thought girls liked wet guys.
action;
[No, she knows better than to try and touch now. If anything, she's learnt to let Nick initiate the touch. At least he grows to know when she needs it.
She throws the towel at his head.]
I thought boys liked wet girls.
action;
Fair point. You know, if you really wanted to cheer me up, you could hop in the fountain.

action;
Are you going to dry yourself? There should be clothes left behind back at the apartment, if you need any.
action;
They better not be your clothes. I don't think I could pull off the funky Wicca chick style.
