[SPLASH! The viewscreen gets splattered with water as one Nick Ryves tumbles unceremoniously into the fountain.

He quickly gets out with all the grace and offended dignity of a cat. A normal person might have made some kind of exclamation, a cry of shock, or start calling for someone they know.

Nick doesn't have to do any of these things. One quick glance around is enough to tell him Alan isn't here, and this isn't England.

If you happen to be passing by the fountain, you might want to leave. Fast. Close to a cold, west, confused Nick Ryves is not the safest place to stand.]

[Nick tries his best to dry his hands on his wet clothes, and he finally figures out how to record.]

[She's working away rather quietly, when there's a sting. Sting she hasn't felt in a long time, right where her mark is. And that can only mean one thing.]

[With a little trepidation, she picks up her network device and looks through the posts. She almost skips over the video - Mae's of the opinion that those kind of accidental videos only show what the person doesn't want the whole City to see, so why should she point out (like 20 other people) that she can? - but there's something at the last minute that stops her.

She hits play.]

[Aaaaaaaaaaand it's Nick.]

That's the second time you pop up and get soaked, you know? We've got to stop meeting like this.

[Have something resembling an expression that might be of an emotion similar to shock.]

Mae?

[There's a strange sort of tugging in his chest that he ignores. She's Alan's. Or will be, when they stop being dumb.]

Stunned speechless, are we? [Of course she's grinning. She hasn't seen anyone that reminds her of home in months. Granted, that Nick isn't the most welcoming part of home, but he is...Nick. And she's itching to go meet him.]

I'm coming where you are.

[He doesn't even bother saying "Don't bother." In the blink of an eye, he's teleported to her side. He's quietly relieved that - however whatever managed to get him here - his powers hadn't been sealed. It doesn't occur to him to wonder about how easy teleporting to her was.]

[He catches her in the middle of looping a silk scarf around her neck. It's stupid, really; it's his mark, so he'll know it's there, just as the thing keeps burning on her skin to tell her he's here - but Mae wants to feel like she's not at a complete disadvantage here, because for some twisted reason, she's the one plucked from furthest ahead, and all the explanations that seem completely logical back home could be mocked so easily by the Nick from before.

Most of all, she doesn't want to be underestimated. Nevertheless, she still jumps out of her skin.]

Damn it - I retract myself, we should stop meeting like this.
