I'm going out for drinks and maybe some dancing tonight if anyone wants to join. I'll be at The Blue Light at seven tonight.
Also, don't guess anyone's seen Faith around, have you?
[ FILTERED TO DEAN WINCHESTER ]
Hey, we've gotta talk. Police stuff so use a filter here or meet me and we'll have a beer and chat tonight.
[ FILTERED TO CHARLIE MCGEE ]
Hey Charlie. Finished carving out the tree trunk. Anytime you wanna come by the Center to take some measurements, I'm good with that. I'll be there 'till about six-thirty tonight.
[ FILTERED TO PIGLET ]
Piglet, got a tree carved out for you. Charlie's gonna make some bedding and pillows for the furniture, maybe some curtains. Might wanna talk to her about what colors you want.

Well, we know who kidnapped Cain Hargreaves now. It's just a matter of what you wanna do about it. Seems Hargreaves recognized this guys voice over the network this past week. He isn't worried about pressing charges. But he, along with the rest of us, don't want it to happen again.
Sometimes it's good to just let these guys know that we know. Thwarts the possibility that it might happen again. But I don't know. You might wanna chat this guy up. Get a feeling for what state of mind he's in.
[Action]
[He takes a sip of his beer. It's a good thing really, particularly that Cain doesn't want to press charges. There isn't a lot they can do in this place in the way of punishment.]
[Action]
Derek picks up his device and sends Dean a file.] [ FILE DOWNLOAD ]
Alright. So this is the post with the voice that Hargreaves recognized. I've never met this guy before. Have you?
[Action]
[Action]
Well, when you talk to him you'll let me know how it goes? He didn't do anything to Hargreaves but kidnap him, hold him for a few days, and let him go. There was no obvious reason for it which isn't logical. Most abductors have a logical, to them at least, thought process or reason for doing what they're doing. This has no reason to it. He just held his abductee and let him go.
[Action]
Will do. Yeah, I can't figure the guy out. Maybe he had something planned for him and we interrupted but it seems to me, he had plenty of time to do whatever he wanted to do before we got there.
[Action]
[Cause while Derek was all big and tough on the outside he was also very empathetic toward both the good and the bad guys. It was what made him a good profiler, honestly. He was just as concerned with Cain as he was with the asshole who'd kidnapped him for seemingly no rhyme or reason.]

I'll get this round. You look like you could use it. You know that this will all be okay, right? I mean we'll do what we can do and the rest, well... it'll handle itself. We can only do so much.
[Action]
Yeah. Everything's going to turn out hunky dory and the moon's made of freakin' green cheese. [It comes out sarcastic and bitter.] Look, Dude, I didn't mean it like that. I'm not twelve though. I know sometimes life sucks and it just keeps sucking. You keep fighting back though 'cause what the hell else are you gonna do? [And there's no answer to the question because in Dean's mind there's nothing else to do. You keep fighting. End of the story. Even if it never pays off, if you never win, if life never gets better. You keep fighting.]
[Action]
But even you can't tell me that you don't see that some of that green cheese out there is just cheese. People don't keep fighting like you do if they don't have and recognize a few things that are made of good that keep you fighting.
[Derek shakes his head.] I'm not saying things are hunky dory or that you're a child. Didn't mean to imply that. But I am saying that I've seen good people come out on top more times than I've seen the bad get their way. And that's reason enough to keep fighting, just to keep those statistics in line, just to keep the good overpowering the bad. Like I said, we do what we can and that's all anyone can ask of us.
[Action]
Hey, at least I'm getting to be the friggin' hero of the day, right? [And this is Dean pushing anything he might have let slip down further. Derek didn't deserve to deal with Dean's crap. It just sort of slipped out.]
[Action]
The hero gig isn't a bad one to play at. Better than the alternative. [Because another way that Derek and Dean were alike, is that they both could so easily slip over to the other side of the line if circumstances pushed them too hard.]
[Action]
Nah, hero gets the girl, right? You can't say that about the bad guy.
[Just one step in the wrong direction.]
[Action]
Not unless the bad guy has a bad girl to go with him. [Because there had also been Sydney Manning, who had been the modern day Bonnie to her Clyde, Raymond Donovan.] Or unless the girl just doesn't know she's with the bad guy... which I've seen happen too.
[Action]
Ran into a few of those. On both ends. Lots of girls who didn't know they're with the bad guy. Never got that. If I can tell the guy's a jackass, why can't they?
[Action]
[It's a joke kind of, trying to make it lighter again. But then he continues, of course. It isn't often he gets to psychoanalyze even theoretical people anymore.] Same thing applies to most families. Siblings, my sisters and my momma never think I can do any wrong. I know I'm capable of it though. Anyone is capable of it.
[Action]
Even when you know your family can do wrong, you don't want to believe it.
[God knows he gives Sam every chance he can even when he knows what he's capable of.]
[Action]
[Derek takes a healthy swig of his fresh beer that the tender has placed in front of him. Dean has a new one too. It occurs to him that he and Dean don't really know that much about each other outside of the cases they've worked in the City. So he decides to see if he can remedy that right now.]
So where are you from, Dean? You a cop back home? [Dean doesn't really strike Derek as a by the book type so it would surprise him if Dean was in any branch of law enforcement.]
