[Behind the Youth Center, past the basketball court there are several massive oak trees. Awhile back, Piglet had asked about carving out a tree trunk for a home for himself. And that's exactly what Derek is spending the morning and into his afternoon doing. Having picked one of the trees close to the center out, he's slowly but surely carving out the hollow of it to fashion what will be the first 'room' of the home for Piglet. This is exactly what the video feed shows him doing from the perspective of the device he's left sitting by a toolbox just a yard or two away. Anyone is free to bug him, both in person or over the device.]

Ai, I did not say it right. I have been young, but I have not been a child. [He frowns. That's not quite it either.] Physically, I have been very young, but I have always been in academies.
[action]
I got this friend back home named Reid, Spencer Reid. He was a boy genius. Has a handful of doctorates and bachelors degrees and he's only in his early twenties. Pretty impressive.
[action]
[He's excited to hear about other child prodigies. It's not like they're easy to find, even in the future.] This Reid, what is his primary area of study?
[action]
And he knows everything almost. He has an eidetic memory so he retains everything he reads and sees. Pretty much a know it all, but he's like a little brother to me. You'd probably get along pretty well with him. You two could have long conversations that no one else gets.
[action]
I do not have an eidetic memory, although I often wish that I did. Would you introduce us, Mr. Morgan, if he came to the City?
[He moves closer to inspect Derek's handiwork.]
May I assume that you did most of your learning outside of a school?
[action]
[Derek tries hard not to get upset about Reid leaving. He'd lost two people in the City that he was very close to in a very short amount of time. It had been hard and he was just now starting to get over it.]
Yeah I did. I got a criminal law degree but everything else I either learned outside of school or taught myself. Was a cop, detective, agent... [He indicates the carved out tree.] This kind of stuff is my hobby outside of work, building things, knocking things down... building them back up.
Tell me about what you did back where you're from.
[action]
Did you teach yourself? The last things, is what I mean... building things.
[He smiles.] Everything that I could--physics, engineering, mechanics, theoretical sciences, programming, mapping. But I am told that all of those count as work and not hobbies.
