Good afternoon, all. Or is it morning? It was afternoon when I left, but inter-dimensional travel does tend to mess with ones timeline just a fraction so I’m not going to assume it’s the same time it was back in Ingary. We’ll just stick with ‘Good Day’, shall we?

You can imagine my surprise when I was expecting to step into another rainy day in Wales and discovered it had dried up quite a bit. Now I’ve done my research, and I must say this place is hardly original. At the very least you could have given it an appropriate title. Something better than ‘The City’. Honestly, If I’m going to be kidnapped at least I’d prefer it was by someone with a little style.

Now could someone please tell me where a fellow can get a drink around here. I was on my way to my university rugby club reunion when these Deities decided to snatch me up, and I was looking forward to getting well and truly sloshed..

Ah, no, only six days by local time. I will not be so helpful if you have questions about the City.

Have you been doing much of your own research? All I've read is the toss they're passing off as a 'City Guide' at the welcome centre.

The tools I am used to using when researching will not be invented for a hundred years, maybe two. I am attempting to modify a computer to do what I would like it to do. Mostly, I have been observing.

["Observing" here meaning "running around the City and being incredibly nosy."]

You appear to be rather into all this 'technology', don't you? I tend to find it all rather unnecessarily complicated.

Yes, but it is very important at home. I think, if we all had magic, maybe technology would be less important.

I find worlds tend to go more towards one or the other. In Ingary I can whip out a pair of seven-league boots and no one so much as bats an eyelid, but they still haven't managed the radio yet.

Seven-league boots, sir? [Is this a metaphor?] Ingary sounds dull without magic.

Luckily it does have magic so it's very far from dull. And seven league boots take you seven leagues in two strides. Very useful. The King won't stop ordering pairs from me.

You have a king? What is it like, living in a monarchy?

I've never not lived in one, so I'm not entirely sure. He's an alright bloke, though. A little bit too keen on making me finish off The Witch for him.

There is a witch, as well? Perhaps it would not be so bad in your world. It sounds like a folktale.

It is all rather fairytale, yes. Sometimes I think that some of those older tales migrated to our world from theirs years ago. It would be an interesting theory to explore.
