[The network is treated to a close-up of a rather good-looking face, topped with a neatly coifed head of blond hair. When it pulls back a fraction, the man appears to be wearing an elaborate Victorian frockcoat in bright blue with silver insets. He gives the network a dazzling grin.]

Good afternoon, all. Or is it morning? It was afternoon when I left, but inter-dimensional travel does tend to mess with ones timeline just a fraction so I’m not going to assume it’s the same time it was back in Ingary. We’ll just stick with ‘Good Day’, shall we?

You can imagine my surprise when I was expecting to step into another rainy day in Wales and discovered it had dried up quite a bit. Now I’ve done my research, and I must say this place is hardly original. At the very least you could have given it an appropriate title. Something better than ‘The City’. Honestly, If I’m going to be kidnapped at least I’d prefer it was by someone with a little style.

Now could someone please tell me where a fellow can get a drink around here. I was on my way to my university rugby club reunion when these Deities decided to snatch me up, and I was looking forward to getting well and truly sloshed..

I'm a little too jaded to believe in magic.

You and and so many other of our brave countrymen, Gwen. It's precisely the reason why I hoofed it to Ingary in the first place.

They're good people, but I think they prefer to be kept in the dark. It's safer for them, or so they think.

Me? I deal more in science and technology, but I suppose some of the things that I've seen could seem pretty magical.

Never put too much interest in technology, me.

[Seems a good enough time for a demonstration.]

[Howl seems to slide out of focus, just for a second. When he sharpens again his frock coat has been transformed. It's still the same colour, but it suddenly a thoroughly modern looking two piece suit. He pulls out his pocket square and gives it a shake. It turns from silver to bright yellow in an instant and he tucks it back in his breast pocket. Yeah. He's good.]

[That just makes Gwen smile delightedly.]

Oh, that's nice.

Nice? I dare say it's a bit more impressive than nice.

You're a hard woman to impress, my dear Gwen. There's a part of me which admires that. A very small part.

I know I am. It's a bit of a personal fault, I'm afraid. It's nothing against you. I promise.

So what can your magic do?

Anything, really. If you've got enough time and patience to work it out. And I happen to be very good.

... would you be willing to show me a few things? I've never really seen anything that could count as true magic. I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions once I have a little while to think about it.

I suppose I don't have much else to do here for the moment.

It's more impressive in person, of course.

Oh, there's plenty to do here. The zoo's fun, especially the dinosaurs and unicorns. Then there are the other citizens, or shops and such. Amazing restaurants, too.

Oh, well then. Thank goodness there's shops. For a moment there I though I was in real trouble.

[Actually the dinosaurs sound pretty badass. But he's not done being self-pitying yet.]

And with an attitude like that, I won't be inviting you out for a drink sometimes.
