Well this could be worse.
[In the background, a creepy male voice and an organ are providing accompaniment; Ed seems more amused than anything else.]
Do you ever think as a hearse goes by that you may be the next to die? They wrap you up in a big white sheet, from your head down to your tiny feet.
...I could've done without waking up to Coldplay, but whatever. At least whatever's doing this has a sense of humor?

action
[Charlie's certain she can't sing, anyway. Even if she actually can. And she's still in a good mood, too.] And there was no squealing. Just flailing and celebratory shots. In case you were wondering.
[Is it...is it time for hugs now? Charlie's not sure. It's Ed's call here, really.]
action
[He closes the door behind her, and now he's just kind of...standing in front of her, too close to really be normal distance but not really doing anything about it either. He looks like he's trying to decide what to do here and is at a loss.]
Celebratory though? I'm surprised.
action:
[She smiles, shrugs slightly and a hand reaches out to brush his side. Really, no clue what to do or how to proceed. She probably looks as indecisive as he does, once again nervously brushing a bit of hair off of her face before nodding once.]
Yeah. Well...why not? I'm happy. She's happy for me. It made sense at the time.
action:
[There's a visible intake of breath, despite the fact that he doesn't need it, but it's enough to prompt a definitive course of action, at least, because he reaches out to rest his hands on her hips.]
Eh, she's a hard read, that's all. Given your last trip there though, I probably shouldn't be surprised; it doesn't seem like it takes much for you guys to celebrate.
[Smirkedy smirk.]
action:
Hey, that last trip was to celebrate the desert being gone and all the bullshit that went with it. We were happy to have survived it. And I was happy to not be a statue anymore.
[Did you really have to bring that up, Charlie? She smirks back, though, clearly set on not talking about the desert anymore.] I don't have plans to get that plastered again ever. That was bad.
action:
So you celebrate by trying to destroy your livers. Yeah, I can see how that would be the logical choice.
[So teasing.]
action:
I have more opportunities for nights like that here than I probably ever will at home, so I'm taking full advantage.
action:
Hey, you're the one talking about drinking until you puke as a good thing.
[Aw, c'mon Ed, you're just jealous you will never be able to do that.
Also you do realize he's not ticklish, McGee, right?]
action:
[But that's irrelevant and unimportant and she doesn't feel like going into that anymore because outside of the City her life is crap and it's just her. Now she has people. And Ed. She's officially processed that and quite likes it, honestly.
She also realizes he's not ticklish and is a bit disappointed. Not that she's the type to start a tickle war. It would have just been amusing.]
Did you want to hang around here or get out of the apartment for a while? I'm fine with either.
[Except for the bit where it's almost two AM and she's actually a bit tired.]
action:
I'm not convinced the air's not going to burst into song again, but I'd be good with whatever. ...Getting kind of late though.
action:
We could always put a movie in. I'd rather not have to make a mad dash for home when the sun starts coming up in a few hours.
action:
Aww, I didn't know you turned into a crispy critter in daylight too, you should've said something.
I'd be down though.
action:
action:
Stop what? You're like the Pilsbury Dough-girl. It's adorable.
action:
You calling me fat?
[She's joking. Still. He left himself wide open for that one.]
action:
No, I'm calling you poke-able. It's fun. Like a squeeze toy.
action:
Hi, Ed. How are you? There's a Charlie with your hands pulled behind her back and her face about a half inch from yours. And she's staring, both nervous that you're there and almost expectant, like she's hoping for something to come of this but she isn't sure what.]
action:
Bitch.
[But he doesn't really mean it; it's more breath than word, and more than half teasing besides. He stares back, uncertain, then seems to almost take a breath to replace the last before closing the remaining space, brushing lips against hers hesitantly, solid enough to be purposeful but brief and light enough where he'll dismiss it as an accident if it doesn't go over well.
It's too soon, maybe, there's a voice nagging as much in the back of his mind, but with what happened in the desert it feels like much longer, like they've known each other forever already. It seems...right somehow.]
action:
[And she has more of a retort, more smart-ass behavior that just comes with the territory of being Charlie but
...did that just happen? Really?
Whoa. Charlie blinks, cheeks flushing from surprise but something in her doesn't give her time to process that at all. It's pure reaction, pure Charlie to just 'do' and not 'think' when she's kissing him back. Her hands have released his wrists and have gone to the sides of his face. She's the one to close the distance again, her kiss a bit more sure than his and lasting only slightly longer before she pulls away a fraction.
Yeah. That just happened. And she's fine with it.]
action:
You're still a bitch.
action:
Call me that again and I think I'll be done with kissing you for a good long while.
[Lies. Such lies.]
action:
[He is so not buying your words, McGee. Not even a little bit. It's why he's grinning so widely, among other reasons.]
action:
[She's not. She just squirms and wiggles and flails but no kicking.]
action:
I think I would have noticed by now? Just a thought.
action:
[Charlie. Don't even try that. It's bull and you know that.]
