[Merlin freezes, hand slightly reached out as he had only just been pushing a door open, and blinks owlishly because this is certainly not how it's supposed to look after he left his room. No, there should be tables, and shelves with so many books and potions and ingredients, and Gaius's bed somewhere.

Not... a city? That doesn't look like anything he has ever seen.

His first thought is that it's magic of some kind, and he slowly steps back, warily, as he glances around.]

Erm... What just happened?

[He doesn't get to see quite so much, though, because his feet collide into some edge (it's what he gets for not looking in the direction he's walking) and then he's falling and--

--and then he's wet, because with a yelped "whoa" and a splash he falls into some body of water (the fountain, in fact).]

((OOC: Because apparently falling into the fountain is tradition and I couldn't possibly resist.))

Well... I could probably dry off on my own, but I'd like to have a look at this... shower thing.

[She undoubtedly pointed out things of interest along the way, like the Library and various other things, but eventually they'd come upon a very large house - with dog doors put into all the outside doors, though no sign of a dog.]

He perks up when they arrive, and looks around appreciatively.]

[She grins at him and wonders what he'll make of the TV and the various kitchen appliances as they make their way through the house to one of the bathrooms.]

Yes. The stuff here is pretty standard for back home.

Well, except for things like the really fancy coffee maker.

[She gestured to the incredibly complex looking thing tucked back on the kitchen counter.]

I mean, I'm sure they have things like that, I'd just never seen one in someone's house before.

[She got to the bathroom and opened the door and began pointing things out and turning on the water in the shower for him.]

These knobs control the temperature. This way for warmer, that way for cooler. Make sure the curtain stays inside the tub or we'll have water everywhere. When you're done, just turn it off like this.

[She turned the water back on and pulled the little spigot that turned it from water running into the tub to a shower.]

I'll let you be so you can get undressed and hop in. I'll go find you some dry clothes. Take your time and enjoy.

And he's very fascinated as he watches her demonstrate, peering up at the head of the shower. Wow.]

[After leaving, she found him some sweatpants and a t-shirt that she thought would fit and slipped them inside carefully once she was sure he was safely in the shower. Then she went and read in the living room while she waited.]

[Have fun, indeed. Merlin wastes some time just tinkering with the knobs and trying out the results (which involved getting the water ice-cold and giving a yelped laugh at it). But eventually he fixes a nice, pleasant temperature, and stands under that for quite some time, reveling in how nice it feels.

He prefers hot baths, but this is certainly quick and simple. Convenient.

And finally, he steps out of the shower, dries himself with a towel and examines the clothes for a little while before he puts them on. Then he looks curiously at the sink and the toilet before he pads out of the bathroom on bare feet.]

Well, as you can see, it's a huge house and there are only a couple of people living here.

[Mercy looked around at the space.]

I think we've got like 5 empty bedrooms. So, you're welcome to stay here tonight or as long as you want - whatever you want. There are also apartments in the City that are empty. Anyone can just move into those and the City gives you some time to get settled before they expect you to pay rent.

If time here doesn't matter back home... How does it work if someone else ends up here? From the same, uhm... dimension, I mean.

Sometimes they end up from the same time period, sometimes from another time.

It can get pretty confusing at times.

But the one good thing is that when you go home, you return to the same time you left from so no one will be missing you.

It is, but you get used to it.

The curses are harder. Every few days the deities curse people. You might find yourself only able to sing to people or switch genders or think you're someone else. Some aren't so bad, but others are pretty miserable.
