As you may have gathered based upon some reactions that were broadcast to the Network, the slugs that have resurfaced after the rain are not your typical garden slugs.
We've seen them before; these are sentient, parasitic life forms which are capable of entering a humanoid host through the ear and gaining control over their actions. They can be removed by flushing the ear canal with salt water - but given our current water supplies, even after the rain, prevention is vital. It's important that we stay alert and look out for each other. Obviously, don't let them near your ears, and use whatever means you have to secure your shelters against them. If you have material that will allow you to do so without obstructing your hearing, cover your ears when you sleep.
[There's a hint of ... something in his voice as he talks about the slugs. But it's slight; maybe just stress from everything happening? Either way, he's using his even, empathic-but-professional tone to cover it.]
Of course, if you notice that someone is behaving erratically, bring it to our attention immediately. The slugs don't seem to be behaving exactly as they have previously, but those who are affected are still dangerous to themselves and to others.
As always, the most important thing is that we keep looking out for one another.
[filtered from Chase]
Since we seem to have cracked the code for passing over to the other City - is anyone planning a trip anytime soon?
[private to House]
I think we should try to get Chase out of here. His temperature's hit 104. They have more supplies and an intact hospital, and we should be able to communicate well enough to let Cameron know.

voice;
Wilson? When did you get... get back?
voice;
[Well that's worrying.]
Chase, I didn't leave.
voice;
[He will not be fooled by whatever tricks you're pulling. Mind like a steel trap.]
What's going on?
voice;
[Steel trap. Yeah. Definitely. Not at all disorientation.]
Chase, I'm here. I've been here. I'm not going anywhere.
voice;
It's so cold in- in here. And you're-- small and fuzzy.
[And called Neil.]

And no trying. We're getting him out. How much money do you have?
[private]
[Dismissed and done.]
I have what I had on me when this happened - well, what didn't turn to sand, anyway. It's not much; a couple greens, a few oranges and yellows.

If this isn't a trick, we can buy an accelerated immigration I'm sure.
[If.]

Chase's life seems like a big risk to take on an "if".
According to the Network, people have been making their own way over, too. Though that means find someone willing and able.
[private]
[Which is the true nature of the City it would seem.]
Seeing as he won't help himself, it's the best chance we have. That should have been his name. Not Chase.

They're not hard to find, actually.]
So what're we supposed to do with people who're... um, behaving erratically?
audio;
But now he's concerned.]
Well, you should stay away from them.
I think our best option at the clinic might be to sedate them, until we can figure out the best approach to removing the slugs.
audio;
[As soon as she figures out what to do with the one she already found.]
Are you okay?
audio;
[Mostly. What is it he's picking up in her tone there?]
Penny, are you alright? Is there a reason you're asking?
audio;
...I might have someone here with a slug problem. No big deal. I'll see you soon, okay?

Well, they were more organized. They infected a large portion of the population, which they proceeded to turn into their own personal labor force.

Would the spaceship even have worked? I thought there were barriers all around this place.
