[The (Second) Doctor is walking through the streets of the City, taking one last look at the place before heading for his TARDIS and taking it through the doorway. He's passing by the building where he's been staying for a while. The streets look so deserted.]

Well, at least everyone's taken the opportunity to leave already. Perhaps I should get going too.

[Loos a little sad, but turns to the door to the console room.]

Seeing old friends is always nice, I suppose.

[She looks away and frowns.]

[Enters the console room, and starts for a long moment at the console. He mutters to himself.]

Home. The one place I can never go.

I'm sure the reunion will be lovely. Not certain I'll be able to stick around for it.

[She pushes her hair back]

Well, you remember my current situation with my people. I'm supposed to be working for them. My being absent for so long could cause problems.

I don hope so. I also hope to explain away any, ah, side trips to Earth they may notice.

[Studies the console and starts fiddling with buttons.]

I think I can manage to pilot the old girl through that massive door they're building.

[Continues flicking switches as he circles the console.]

[She continues to watch him and ponders about getting back and finding Ten.]

[Takes a deep breath and looks at the scanner in the wall. He can see the City, and almost make out her flat in the distance.]

You know, I think this was a nice place to visit. Still, wouldn't want to be here forever knowing there was no way out until now.
