[The (Second) Doctor is walking through the streets of the City, taking one last look at the place before heading for his TARDIS and taking it through the doorway. He's passing by the building where he's been staying for a while. The streets look so deserted.]

Well, at least everyone's taken the opportunity to leave already. Perhaps I should get going too.

[Rose is laying on a bench nearby her eyes are all puffy and strained from crying. She's waiting for something or rather someone to return as she gazes at the sky and holds her stomach.]

[Notices the figure on the bench, and is shocked. Goes over to her.]

Rose? My word! I thought you had gone already.

[Sees the state she's in.]

What's happened?

[She notices the Doctor and she tries to keep it together.]

He's...He's gone.

[The tears start again.]

She took him away.

What? Who took him away?

The TARDIS.

[Nods slowly. Something must have gone wrong. Perhaps the TARDIS malfunctioned?]

Oh. Oh, I'm so sorry Rose.

[He looks around, seeing nobody, and kneels beside the bench holding out a handkerchief.]

Here, take this.

Now he'll never know that...

[She takes the handkerchief and blows her nose murmuring as more tears stream down her face.]

We were gonna go to so many places..

[He feels bad for her and starts digging through his pockets until he takes out a flask.]

Here, have a sip my dear. I was just picking up a few things as keepsakes form here. It should calm your nerves.

[She looks at the flask before taking it. She holds it but doesn't sip as the tears continue.]

What are you taking?

Just a few bits and bobs. I already procured a few flowers for the atrium in the TARDIS. And some of the local brandy.

[Looks embarrassed to admit the last bit.]

Brandy?

[Her eyes return to the flask for a moment as she tries to wipe some tears away.]

The flowers here are beautiful.

Yes, I thought so too. That's why I'm taking a few.

[Looks at her with concern.]

Come now, drink up.

[She studies the flask before taking a small sip and then weeping again at the familiar taste.]

We...we had this on our honeymoon.

[Looks sheepish for offering it.]

Oh. I'm so sorry.

[Makes a decision.]

Come on, get up. There's no use just sitting here.

It's alright.

[She sits up clutching the flask.]

He might come back though.

[A foolish hope she knows.]

I don't think so. I think the door is only one way. We should go to my TARDIS. I can assure you I will not take off without you.

[She really doesn't like that wiping away more tears from her face. She gets on her feet and looks over at him. This version of him has never let her down yet.]

Do you think we can track him out there?

We can try.

[Although crossing his own timeline like that will get him in trouble.]

At best, I can probably get you as close to his point as possible.

[That gives her a bit of hope.]

We'd appreciate it. Come on then.

[Takes her hand and leads her from the bench.]

We?

[She holds his hand and follows before biting her lip.]

Um, you know the Doctor and me.

Oh, of course. For a moment I thought you might have a guest to take with us as well.

[Rose laughs nervously.]

Another guest? Yeah, right. Don't know where you'd get that idea.

Well, you did say "we". I'm sorry, I just don't know what I was thinking.

[Leads her to where he has his TARDIS.]

Bit of a slip. Nerves I think. M'sorry.

[She sees the TARDIS and sees hope.]
