Eighty Fourth Tune

[Video Post]

[Scene: The City beach. Enter, stage right: A hooded figure, holding a strange blue instrument. The figure looks back and forth a few times before throwing its hood back, revealing a perhaps familiar blonde with an odd hairstyle. He grins widely.]

No way! The City?

[He strums a few notes on his sitar and a few columns of water shoot up, Demyx seemingly riding on the top a couple of feet along the shoreline.]

Woo! Yeah, come on! Ah- hey, network device. Cool, the same one I used to have.

[He bends down to the video feed, waving.]

Hey, City. Remember me? I’m Demyx. Anyone here that I remember? Curt? Stephan? Campbell? Neil? Reno? Hanna? Machi? Megumi? Misao? Carl?

Su Anyone from the Organization?

Well, I’ll find you guys, huh? Dance, water, dance!

[He plays his instrument some more, and there appear about a dozen or so replicas of himself formed out of water, and they woosh off with a wave of his hand. The feed ends.]

[OoC: Feel free to have a water clone to essentially dance with you whether or not he knew you before. Also, names in no particular order; I pretty much just did it as far as ‘people who were important to him’ as I remembered them.]

Hey, man! I was gone but I came back, and Campbell is totally here and so is that creepy doll that plays the drums so now we've pretty much got the band back together.

[Except for one, but he's going to try not to think about that. Yay for denial.]

Ah- Curt?

[A pause as he takes in what he's talking about. At Campbell his face brightens a little more, and then goes into a (confused) pout at the "creepy doll". And- oh, right, no Stephen, but-

He throws out his hand and a swirling mass of black and purple appears. He puts his hood up, and after he steps through, it disappears.]

[Of course, several seconds later, it appears a few feet from where Curt just replied to him from. He tosses his hood back down, and grins widely, the portal disappearing once more.]

Aaaaagh!

[Curt jumps slightly but then grins. He probably should have expected that.]

Good to see you.

[Prepare to be brohugged, Demyx.]

[At the scream, Demys starts a little bit too.]

Oh. Right.

Yeah, hey! I'm- [Oh, hug! He's had those before. Oh, man, how do these work, again? Okay, just- just, like, wrap your arms back around him, right?

Okay. Yeah, Curt, you are totally being hugged back. It's probably the most awkward thing you've ever experienced, but he is trying.]

It's great to see you too.

[Curt sort of notices that Demyx hugs like someone trying really hard to make arms doing gestures of affection work, but he's excited enough not to pay a lot of attention.]

I haven't been back here long, and my memory of this place was fuzzy for a bit, but in some ways it's been nice to be trapped in a crazy pocket dimension again.

[He appreciates that, Curt. Really. He's just going to follow your lead on all of this.]

Really? You were here when I left, I figured you'd've been here all this time. S'good that you got your memory back, though. [Demyx wouldn't know what to do if you hadn't remembered The Band. Speaking of which-] So, wait, we have a drummer now?

Yeah, that was after you left, I guess. He didn't play with us for that long, but a few times. Apparently you can get very tiny drum sets.

So, he's a doll? I'm pretty sure I don't remember him. But hey, I guess I'll know him now!

Or something like that. I didn't exactly ask a lot of questions. You know how much trouble we had with getting a drummer.

Ha, yeah. S'good that we have one now! [He shifts on his feet.]

So, Stephen left around the time I did, right?

Yeah, he did. [There's an awkward pause here that's totally on Curt.] So we need a bass player, but other than that we're covered.

[Demyx takes part in that, too. He'd usually say that Stephen'd be back for sure, but- not all of the Organization did in all his time in the City.]

Well, maybe you should have an open audition again, you know? Like when I joined up.

Yeah, that might be a good idea. I've had to do it a few times.

Is the whole band gonna do auditions, or just you?

It should be all of us. Once you're settled in and stuff.

[I think I'm going to post a 4th wall jam session soon.]

[OoC: Excellent. You should also go to that free-for-all post just to see what I did to Hammer.]

[Oh, hey. Penny remembers being way confused by this guy.]

Hey, Demyx. It's Penny... I don't know if you'd really remember me.

[Yeah, get in line, Penny.]

Penny! Hey, of course I do. It's not every day someone who isn't Xigbar threatens to shoot me. [Said in the same tone as someone would, "it's not every day someone is so nice/pretty/helpful".]

How are you? Did you get to stay here all the time I was gone?

I threatened to shoot--oh, yeah. I remember you telling me about that.

[Demyx is one of very few people who knew Penny before she left and came back without those memories. That's part of the reason he confused her. Far from the ONLY reason, but definitely a part of it.]

I'm good! [Lies.] Yep, I've been here every single day since the last time you were here. Hey, have you found somewhere to crash yet?

[Oh, right, that memory loss thing. He'd forgotten (haha) about that.]

Ah, that's great! Anything new in the City?

[Wait, crash, he knows this, he can do this- Right!] Well, I live in-

Oh, I mean. Uh. I lived in- Wonder if it's still empty. I think I do, I need to go check, though. ~~I haven't seen Roxas yet, but-~~

Well... we have new overlords. The Anonymous Movement overthrew the Deities, and they seem pretty okay. They haven't stopped the curses, but they're trying.

[He is so confusing.]

If wherever it is you used to live doesn't work out, the Welcome Center has spare beds, okay?

The An- Wait, what? The deities are gone? When'd that happen?

[So is everyone else, to him.]

Oh. Uh, yeah, alright, I guess.

Last year. August, I think?

Demyx, are you okay? I've heard it can be really disorienting, coming back after being out for a while.

Wow. Is there a new guide or something?

Huh? [Oh, right. Very nice Penny.] Yeah, I mean, the City's great! And, you know, being dead, but out of the City was kinda bad, but it's great being back!

I mean, I guess it'd just be weird, not being in my old apartment. You know?

No one's come up with one lately. Sorry about that.

[Wow, topic jump!]

I bet there's no one living in your old place. It's probably just the way you left it.

Well, alright. What's the new guys' deal?

[He may be tactless, but he doesn't even notice it. And he's grinning again at Penny's other words.]

Yeah! Me too. Oh- uh, hey, do you wanna come over sometime?

They're trying to stop the curses and get everyone out of the City. Not everyone's huge on that idea since not everyone has a place outside of here, but I think they mean well. They're nice enough, anyway.

Hm? Oh, sure! Not that I can make water dance or anything cool.
