The time is 1800 hours, on my 77th day in the City.

[ the camera shows b'elanna again, and the swings around to show a modest-looking pancake-shaped contraption, large enough for a person to stand on. it moves toward it as b'elanna walks and she swings it around to her face again. ]

All minor tests have been successful with no adverse affects to the objects transported. This is the last test before the equipment is deemed fully operational.

[ the camera points down at b'elanna's feet for a moment before coming up and showing the wall behind her -- painted in engineering yellow. she turns 180 degrees to show the other wall, painted blue, with another large pancake contraption on the floor in front of it. ]

[ the feed fuzzes, and cuts out. ]

Congratulations on the apparent success of your device ma'am. [Cain inclines his head towards the camera] If I'm not mistaken, you're trying to make a way out of the city. I'm no expert, but I've dealt with void portals before and yours is considerably smaller than any I've encountered. The question is: Is it stable?

So far so good, yeah. Void portal? Is that what you called it?

[Cain looks a touch sheepish] Well, I'm no Tech-Priest, but that's the only thing I've ever seen that looks and does what your device does. If not a Void-Portal, though, then what is it?

We just call it a transporter, but it's very likely the same principle. Like, we don't have Tech-Priests, either. I'm an engineer.

Ah. I think I understand your position then. Regardless of the name or purpose I must admit that it'd invigorating to watch any sort of expiriment after twiddling my thumbs for, what seems like, so long.

[Cain draws a touch closer to the camera and looks ever-so-slightly inquisitive]
While I'm no expert in technology, I encountered more than my fair share of... "abnormal" technologies during my career. I'd be most interested in seeing the Transporter at work first hand.. that is if you wouldn't object.
[He smiles charmingly and lets the ambient light of his office shine off the gold of uniform to give a near-angelic quality to the whole scene]
