~ Post 005 - Channeling Julia Child (VIDEO-OPEN - for December 25th)

[So this is Lara in her kitchen, spinning a knife with one hand just for something to do while working on a recipe. It isn't clear whether she's preping a main course, a side dish or a dessert. Not that it really matters.

She addresses her device.]

Not that I do much cooking, but I thought I'd give it a try for the holidays. I'm choosing to be bold and have a turkey in the oven. Does anyone have any suggestions for stuffing?

Marinate the turkey in vodka. Make it enough and no one will care about the stuffing.

[He might be joking. Then again, he might not be.]

video; it's a pleasure! apologies for being slow.

Personal, no, but in theory, I think that it would work.

[The smile gives it away as a joke.]

You might try it. I believe alcohol makes meat more tender, even when it doesn't intoxicate those eating it.

Does it? That explains many family dinners. [Again, joking. Possibly.]

You cook as well as explore ruins?
candothat: (Relieved)

[Not commenting is a fine way to deal with Chekov.]

I think that it counts, but why would you try to prepare a turkey? It seems, to me, like a waste of time if you do not enjoy cooking.
candothat: (Wow this is a forced smile)

[Being young and (usually) polite enough to keep himself if his opinion isn't wanted has done wonders for Chekov's ability to shrug off small slights.]

I agree, but I think I would rather get rid of boredom in a different way. Or are you attempting to prepare a traditional holiday meal?
candothat: (Expletives!)

Have you been to the library? It has many books on cooking, if you can find them. It should not be difficult to find one on traditional American cooking.

I can't be of help, myself.
