We don't really do much for Christmas where [ ~~when~~ ] I come from, but... I do think we could all use a little festivity every now and again. So to anyone who is celebrating anything - I hope it was a good one.

[ Applause is given because Jim doesn't really want to invest himself in this holiday, but he's already given people gifts and his life is even worse to focus on (missing his mother actively forgetting to call and then hastily rectifying it at fuck o'clock ranks strangely highly), so Harry gets a willing audience. ]

That was great! Do you play often?

[ The applause is really more than he'd expected for a simple little performance - but he chuckles at it, lowering his gaze slightly as he does. ]

How long've you been playing?

Well, you're welcome. I'm more than happy to contribute any festivity I can.

[ There's a pause before he answers, drawing in a breath. ]

Since I was a kid. My parents loved it. I'm a few months out of practice now, though.

It's the City. I'm sure we can use all the festive we can get.

That's neat. Not being out of practice, I mean, but having a talent like that. I hope you'll be able to find time to practice between curses. I'm pretty awful at doing that.

I always have managed to find time, so I'm sure I'll get some practice in. All things considered, the City doesn't keep me too busy.

Do you play an instrument?

Do everything you can to keep it that way. Once you start losing your you time here, you never get it back.

Sort of. I used to play the violin pretty well.

I'll keep that in mind.

You should take it up again - the violin. If you need to start practicing, having a buddy can really help keep you on track with it.

Are you offering to be my practice buddy? Because I'm pretty sure I'd say yes if you promised not to laugh at me for being totally out of practice.

And I would never laugh. We all need to practice, you can't just get right back into it without hitting a few sour notes.
