[ The screen turns on to show nothing but an almost completely black room. If the viewer watches long enough, their eyes might adjust to see dull shapes of what could be furniture but it's hard to tell. Then something darker than the gloom, a black-on-black shadow, moves past the screen and a voice comes across. For some, it will be audible and some, perhaps not. ]

What a charming little city you all have here. So bright and colourful, so full of life.

[ A disembodied mouth appears against the blackness of the background, grinning a razor smile. It's followed shortly after by a pair of bright gold eyes, the voice low and amused and confident, ]

And yet like most things there is a touch of darkness to it. With that in mind I pose a riddle, for those of you who choose to play along: when is a captive not a captive and a cage not a cage?

My priorities lie where they always have, Pitch. After everything that's happened, did you really think I'd just...be a silent party to your antagonistic ways? That's not how it works!

Then tell me: how do you envision this working, in your plan?

[Tooth sighs, and there's doubt in her voice when she speaks again.]

There is no way this will work, Pitch. You know that. I know that. There's just no way...

[Them? Coexisting in this place? Tooth can't fathom it.]

Then I shall take that as your declaration of war.

That's not what this is. I don't want to fight you.

[She will if she must, and she does think it will come to that, but she certainly doesn't want it to.]

As if I would believe that.

[As far as Tooth is concerned, Pitch will believe what he wants. She knows what she said is truth, and that's enough for her. She hopes it's enough for those listening, too...but if it isn't, she'll deal with that when the time comes.]

[For now, she thinks it better not to push him, because it will inevitably result in him pushing back. The chances of her losing her temper in that situation are great, and if there is some possibility of them being able to both live here without trying to end one another, even if that chance is so small it may as well be a speck of dust floating in space, well...Tooth thinks she ought to at least give it some thought. Careful thought. Thought away from the Boogieman himself.]

[Although she's less sure of the good part as she hangs up.]
