And here I thought you liked the way boy smelled. If I'd've known you were so opposed to it, I'd've borrowed your perfume to spray all over 'em first.

I only like 'fresh from the shower' boy smell. Get it right. And sure, knock yourself out walking around smelling like gardenias.

That must explain why I feel the need to compulsively shower every time I think you might be comin' over, yeah. 'n I gotta say, there're worse things a guy could smell like than gardenias.

Actually, there's definitely another reason why you feel that way, but I'll keep my mouth shut.

Yeah, I figure I can just about think of that reason, too.

I might have to give a discount 'cause I've got a fucked up leg. I mean, as far as I know, nobody wants to pay to see that.

[He hides the embarrassment he feels about his war wounds with jokes, but he still feels it, nonetheless. He likes that it hasn't bothered Angela so far, or, if it has, she hasn't said anything.]

[It doesn't and likewise, he's never said anything about the one on her arm. It's faded and nowhere as gnarly as his, but a brush of a hand along the skin and a closer look, and it's obvious that there are teeth marks.

Besides, she's one of those people who believe scars tell a story and give character.]

I doubt that's what they'll be looking at when you're naked.

[He wouldn't dream of bringing up someone else's scar, unless they brought it up first. He knows from experience just how fraught those conversations can become.]

Yeah, I like to think I've got some qualities that draw the eye in other directions.

[Not that he's bragging, or anything. It's just an idle hope.]

[The way she sticks out her lower lip, as in she's in deep consideration of the fact, is a clear sign she's trolling again.]
