vii. ][ action
[ Dewey has seen one of these before - and having seen it before, he's not taken by surprise when it comes back around. Everyone made it clear it was a regular occurrence, after all.
What it does mean is a stream of people who won't be sticking around - and the thing is, Dewey actually has gotten to miss his brothers in the months he's been here. So he decides that, in their honor, there is only one way to deal with this influx of people who won't be here long enough to give him trouble.
He has found his way up onto one of the shorter buildings surrounding the square, and there he has constructed a short wall fort comprised primarily of cardboard. He has a store of water balloons, paper airplanes, a remote controlled helicopter and a selection of plastic paratroopers. The paratroopers are because he's going to play, thank you very much.
Pass by and see what happens. ]
[ ooc: Happy 4th wall! Come get hit by something. ]

Mr. Kyle suspects nothing.]

He's being watched, closely, eyes tracking him over the edge of the cardboard fortifications.
The first sign of trouble is a lone paratrooper that drifts down to the ground, a few feet ahead of his position. ]

Just in case.]

Dewey is up there, making a little radio static sound effect and speaking quietly to himself: ]
Target is in position. You are clear to drop the payload.
[ Radio noise. ] Roger that. We are good to go.
[ And he chucks a water balloon over the edge of the building. Then, he salutes as it descends. ]
Your sacrifice will be remembered, soldier.
no subject
Which means the water balloon hits him square in the face. Bullseye, my friend. Bullseye.
Kyle sputters and blinks water out of his eyes.]
Hello? Who's up there?
no subject
He looked up. Right into it.
How can he not laugh? ]
no subject
Most attackers don't hide and laugh.]
Oi! Show yourself!
no subject
There's a message on it, inside the folds, in crayon: "Hi."
And he lets it fly. ]

The lieutenant looks back at the apparent source of these attacks. He's either facing a mischievous alien or a mischievous child; either one should be greeted politely.]
Hullo to you, too. Do you have a name?
but what if I just
There's a sort of invisibility here that Walt isn't comfortable with. ]
posted 100% PURE AWESOME? because that's what happened
YO MR WHITE!
[The way Jesse jumps to get Walt's attention looks threatening to the low hanging baggy jeans.]

Then he frowns, the expression punctuated by a terse, academic stare. He only mouths something to the kid. Two words.
Shut. Up. ]
omg omg omg oh noooo (by which i mean yesssss)
But there's something that's not quite right there, something that holds him back. The way the man is carrying himself seems completely wrong - his dad would be absolutely freaking out right now, probably throwing his arms around in a completely undignified manner and making strange yelping noises that aren't quite words.
Which is why Dewey decides to further investigate by launching a paper airplane toward him. ]
c:
Configuring the wind, the trajectory and the overall shape of the object, it isn't difficult to pinpoint approximately where the hand behind the crude little craft should be. Walt squints past the heavy rims of his glasses trying to spot any sign of movement. ]
ps sorry for holiday delays <3
Which is mostly just unfair, since he's been here for months and nobody from home has shown up even once. Pretty typical, though, he has to admit. ]
No worries
Slowly he raises the airplane, the body held delicately between his fingers as not to inflict any damage. ]
Is this yours?
[ There's a cough that comes with raising his voice. ]
no subject
Could be.
no subject
Well, and everybody else's business too. She's curious, okay? And people are just so interesting.
Too bad she isn't looking up.]
no subject
Confirmed. Target is sighted.
no subject
and she’s definitely not expecting anything to come flying at her from above. ]
no subject
Reconnaissance is warranted - he sends a couple of paratroopers down. Not the beginning of an assault, in this case. ]
no subject
what are those?
naomi catches one to look at it and then shades her eyes to stare upwards to see if she can see where it came from. ]
no subject
[ First, he makes a little radio static noise. ] Confirmed. We have contact with the target.
[ And then again. ] Roger that. Stand down to avoid visual detection.
[ She might see just the slightest hint of movement as he shifts back to try to obscure his position with his fortification. ]
no subject
Hello?
[ because things like this look like toys and toys don't just fall from the sky. unless you're on the holodeck. and she hasn't really ruled that out yet. ]
Flotter? Trevis?
no subject
[ Static. ] Detection confirmed. Aerial backup requested.
[ And again. ] Roger.
[ A few moments later, and a paper airplane will be on its way down after the army men. ]
no subject
naomi catches the paper airplane and studies it. it's a crude way to fly something but it seems to work. she doesn't really know how it works, but it does. it's not designed like any starship she's ever seen. maybe this is something to ask lieuten- ensign paris.
again she looks up and then she tries to send the weird-shaped thing back where it came from.
and probably fails. ]
