[It's an ordinary day in the City. Anya's taking Pooka out for a nice walk, minding her own business...

When suddenly she's attacked by a FLYING HAT!! It comes out of nowhere at an unexpectedly fast speed, before settling on Anya's head.]

What in the...hey! Get off!!

[She moves to swat at the hat, but luckily, it's only on her head for a moment before shouting out--]

SLYTHERIN!!

[And just as quickly as it arrived, it's gone, leaving a barking Pooka and a thoroughly confused Anya in its wake.]

...Right. No idea what that was about.

It was sorting you into a Hogwarts house.

[ Remus, unlike his other friends, doesn't really carry the same anti-Slytherin torch. ]

Oh. Um....is that a good thing? What's a Slytherin? It sounds like some kind of snake or reptile or something.

Slytherin's are named after Salazar Slytherin! But his crest has a snake on it, so you're pretty spot on there.

In my school, Hogwarts, every new student is sorted in a house. That way they know what dorm to stay in and which head of house belongs to them.

Salazar Slytherin...[Well that name doesn't sound evil at all. But if it's a school thing, it might not be so bad.]

So, what house you in? What sort of school is this?

[She's curious now. A school with odd house names and a magic hat. She's interested, no doubt about that.]

I'm in Gryffindor. [ He grins a little, proud of his house and his school. ] It's a um, School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Everyone who goes to Hogwarts can do magic.

Magic.

[She blinks. She's had....bad experiences with magic back home. Magic blew up a train.]

...Eh, I've heard of weirder things. I can live with magic school for a few days, probably. What kind of magic do you learn at this Hogwarts?

A lot, actually. Charms, and Transfiguration, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Herbology.

[ He pauses, then smiles. ] I bet it all sounds so bizarre.

A bit...though it's sort of a cool bizarre.

It is definitely that. There's nowhere quite like Hogwarts.

Hm. Well, it doesn't sound so bad...so maybe this will be okay.

It will. And if you need any help with it you can just come and find me, how about that? I'm used to Hogwarts.

[ By chance, Clint happens to be out with his two dogs at the same time and sees the whole thing from a distance, smirking the entire way up the path. ]

Sorting Hat got you, too, huh?

Yeeep. Hey, Clint.

[She nods, smiling a bit as Pooka perks up at OTHER DOGS HELLO OTHER DOGS]

Where did it put you?

[ He keeps an eye on the dogs sniffing and wagging at each other, watching them with an open fondness he doesn't show too often, and rarely towards humans. ]

Gryffindor.

Huh. I wonder what the difference is between all these houses, anyway.

[Pooka yips happily, wiggling excitedly. Anya smiles at him, shaking her head.]

This place better allow dogs...

[ He knows the world of Harry Potter from his own, but he's never let on, partly because he's a closest geek and a little because there's been people here from there. ]

You ever speak to Ginny? It's a thing from her world. There's a school of magic, Hogwarts or something, and there's four houses the kids get sorted into.

[ He looks own at his own two and hums quietly. ] Well, she mentioned cats, rats, and owls. Should include dogs, right?

I know of Ginny, and I think we talked once...she's one of Bucky's friends, I think.

...Ohhh...okay, I guess that makes sense. And they use a hat to do the sorting because magic, I guess I get it?

[She doesn't get it. But hey, whatever. She just shrugs, smiling and bending down to scratch Pooka's ears.]

It should. I mean, I don't know if dogs are traditionally magical or not, but...well, Pooka's tried to fly with his ears a few times. I think that counts.

Yeah, that's the one.

[ With a soft chuckle and shoulder shrug. ] Never did make much sense, but I've learned to go along with it, y'know? Guess you get used to anything here.

[ He did have experience with the weirder world beforehand, though, which is probably cheating, but still. ]

Yeah? That's got to count. And, come on, who doesn't love having dogs around? Cats get way too much press.

I've just learned to smile, nod, and accept whatever this place is throwing at you, you know? It's easier than trying to question it.

[She laughs and nods.]

Exactly. Cats are so...stereotypical evil witch.

So, what're your dogs named?

Yeah, constantly putting up a fight doesn't change anything. And it's kinda tiring. Doesn't mean I don't give 'em all I got when the opportunity's there.

[ But he's trying not to dwell on the serious side of life here, so he shrugs it off. ]

Exactly. Never hurts to change things up.

[ He gestures to the black labrador that he got for Coulson the first time around and ended up keeping. ] This one's Fury. And this idiot - [ He pats the grey and white husky on the head that the Natasha before last left him with. ] - This is Jasper. Both names are inside jokes, and for once I had nothing to do with either one.

Oh, no, whenever they give me an opening, I plan on giving them hell. But for now...well, there isn't really much to do here.

[She shrugs, smiling a bit and moving to scratch one of the dog.]

They're cute. I like the names. Lemme guess, they're named after people?

You good at giving hell?

[ Because he really wouldn't mind getting to lay witness to that. ]

Yeah, and people I wouldn't want to be around if they ever find out.

It was my main job back in the orphanage.

[Her solution to a runaway train problem was FIX IT WITH DYNAMITE. Someday, she'll get a chance to show off, and you can have a front row seat.]

Ooooh, I know that feeling. I think if Pooka had been a girl, I may have named him after the orphanage matron, just to spite her.
