If any of you knew Jem Carstairs then I'm sorry to tell you that he's gone. At least he'll be happier at home. He'll be back with his best friend and fiance and that's good.

[ She makes it home in the time she said she would, trudging through the front door with a despondent air. If this were a cartoon she might have a little rain cloud over her head. ] Hi.

[Sure does have the kettle on by the time Clary gets back, and tonight they're going to have tea because tea is for when people leave, or it's raining, or they expect to huddle relatively close together on the couch and sit in silence. Alcohol is for heartbreak. And alcohol doesn't solve every heartbreak, so Mae is trying to set a good example here!

[ Clary takes off her coat first, hangs her satchel up on the hook and then she turns towards Mae and holds out her arms like a child needing to be appeased. Mae is her only real friend in the City, she can't even count Jace anymore, and she needs the comfort. ]

[Aww. They meet halfway, then. Or Mae walks closer and if Clary walks to her that's good as well. Either way, she is going to get a hug out of this, a tight hug with all the warmth that's in her body right now attempting to transfer into Clary's.]
