[ the screen shows a view of b'elanna from below -- she huffs in anger before looking down at the device and giving it a very pointed scowl. ]

For being such a simple piece of crap, it's pretty easy to turn you on, huh?

[ it comes up for a direct view, to show b'elanna head on and looking more annoyed than angry now. her eyebrow quirks, pushing her forehead up and making the ridges a little more pronounced. ]

Sorry, I'm not really in a chatty mood. Thanks, anyway.

[ and with that, she cuts the feed. unfortunately she hadn't taken the time to silence the thing before shoving it into her pocket. ]

[ okay so... he's not sure if this is actually b'elanna or if the city is screwing with him. he wouldn't be surprised if it were the latter, honestly, and he has to be sure. while khan seems to be gone from the city, there's the little problem of a half-klingon appearing in the same area as kirk's crew. this will be fun to explain. ]

Neither am I, but get back on the line anyway, Lieutenant. That's an order.

[ it takes her a moment, but she does recognize his voice, and then realize where it's coming from... ]

Chakotay. What the hell is going on?

[aggressor]

Captain. I'm already working on trying to figure out why attempts to hail Voyager are failing.

That's hard to explain. Let me see where you are. I'll come get you.

[ because no one else is going to wrangle her and he'd rather not have kirk's crew deal with her before he can debrief her on the situation. ]

[aggressor]

Were we transported off of Voyager?

[ reluctantly (and awkwardly), b'elanna turns her device around to pan across her surroundings. ]

Just tell me what's happening.

[chakotay]

I'll tell you when I get there. [ he's taking a quick look and then he's moving. ] And don't go anywhere. That's an order.

[ he's sorry, b'elanna. he'll explain later. he really will. and with luck that won't take him long to make his way over to her. ]

[aggressor]

[ she does as ordered, though not without quite a bit of comment under her breath. everyone's happily making orders today instead of giving her the information she needs to just do something about all this.

so when she sees chakotay finally, she makes sure her arms are crossed and her bitchface is in place. ]

Okay, you're here. Let's hear it.

[chakotay]

We're in a temporally displaced bubble, stuck in what seems to be the 21st century. No one's been able to contact any starship [ which means they aren't the only crew here ] and we're having to uphold the Temporal Prime Directive as best we can. [ at least, last he heard that was still an order. ]

There's a lot more to it, but that's the overview. [ pause. excuse him for a moment while he rubs his forehead. he should really tell her about kirk's crew. soon. ]

[ out of that summary, b'elanna picks out one shiny phrase: ]

...What do you mean any starship?

There's a crew from another starship trapped here with us. Specifically, the Enterprise. [ not the enterprise-d. not even any of the others. ] Captain Kirk, Commander Spock, Dr McCoy, Lieutenant Uhura, and Ensign Chekov are here, too. From what I can tell, they're from a slightly altered timeline, but they're Starfleet officers all the same.

[directives]

Chakotay's on his way. He'll explain everything.

In the meantime, sit tight and try not to break anything. [ see: anyone. ]

Well, it's a little late for that...

[ she's going to completely ignore the implications here, to focus on her annoyance... ]

Great. They won't even be any help at getting us out of here.

You'd be surprised. I've heard Ensign Chekov understands a lot more than I originally gave him credit for. And he's good to work with.

[ high praise coming from chakotay. ]

The point is that they're well behind our timeline. And to them, Klingons are still the enemy. [ are you following him here, b'elanna? ] They also don't know about the Maquis. I've been pretending to be fully Starfleet. [ and only she will understand how difficult that has been. ]

They turn on on their own when you least expect it. It's a habit of theirs.
