Video

[At least, for once, this is an intentional video. He is, however, much more casually attired than usual -- which, in this case, means with no suit jacket, no tie, and sleeves rolled up to his elbows. And he appears to be leaning on a car, cigarette in hand, as ever, and an errant smudge of grease or two on his face.]

I have two questions for the City at large. Call it... research.

[One of those tiny, polite smiles, and then...]

First of all, if there were one thing you think this city is lacking -- and "a means of escape" isn't a valid answer here, I'm afraid, since we all want that -- what would it be?

[A long pause.]

Second of all, I've been informed that I'm in need of at least one "modern" outfit, whatever that means. Is anyone here willing to assist?

Heh. There's a tricky subject. My boss, Rhys, has a son who can see the future a little. He says the problem with seeing bits of the future is that you can't see the surrounding circumstances so things can be taken out of context.

[Theo still has that photograph of him and the little girl hidden away.]

Probably not.

[There's a split second pause on Theo's end. He hasn't looked up Meyer before because it always felt sort of rude to do that about your ... co-workers... people you know. Bad etiquette to go knowing about their future. Something that comes up often at home.

However his father has taught him that any bit of information you can get on a person is one more thing you can use against them or use to control them.

But now that he's been giving permission...]

I'll keep that in mind.

No, of course not. Telling you your future here is a bit on the pointless side since you won't remember it when you get back.

[But knowing your past on the other hand...]

Because there's nothing to worry about.

[At this point one of Theo's rats crawls up onto his shoulders and tries to wiggle its nose.]

[He laughs.]

It's really not the most comforting thing to hear someone say. But it's better than "You've disappointed me for the last time..."

If we have, the person saying it was't very good at their job.

[There's a blank eyed blink from Theo.]

You really shouldn't go around threatening people like that if you don't mean it. People won't take you seriously otherwise.

Neither do I.

[Of course not. Nor would Theo.]
