[ Dewey is crouched under the piano in the casino, which is well-barricaded, his legs drawn up to his chest. He looks over his knees at the device. ]

Hi. I'm okay. I haven't been able to get home, but I'm okay.

[ He's scared. Terrified, really, but he's trying not to show it - though the video does shake a bit. ]

In case anyone I know was worried.

[ Eden or Frankie, especially, of course, but he's gotten to know a few people here.

There's a noise off-screen, and he gasps, turning suddenly in that direction. A moment later, he turns his attention back and shuts off the feed. He'll never say how much he misses his family, but right now he'd do nearly anything to have them here - any one of them, really - or to go home.

He really wants to go home. ]

[ Dewey glances out from underneath, device still clutched in his hands. ]

Yeah. I'm all right.

Depending on how long this lasts, you're welcome to sleep in the back room if you need to.

[Kids need more sleep than adults, right? He's not intending to sleep at all until this is over and done with, but he can extend the courtesy to his employees. There's a mattress back there, after all.]

Okay... maybe later. I'm not really tired right now.

[ It doesn't seem likely that he'll be able to, at the moment. ]

Would you feel better or worse if you had some form of weapon?

[Yes, arm the children, best idea.]

[ A weapon? Dewey thinks on that for a moment. ]

That depends. Maybe something like a bat...

I can find you something like that, if it would make you feel better.

Yeah. I guess.

I think someone might come for me, but... until they can.

Okay, you stay right there, and I'll find you something.

[With that said, he goes behind the bar and rummages around for a moment, and then comes up with a baseball bat, bringing it back and presenting it to Dewey.]

This work for you? You could hit something pretty hard with it.

[ He creeps out from under the piano for a moment to take it, and hefts it in his hand. He takes a careful swing with it to get a feel for the weight, much like any small boy who has occasionally used a bat to convince his larger brothers to get off of him. ]

Yeah. This works.

Good. And don't be afraid to use it.

[He's pretty sure Dewey will defend himself, if it comes right down to it, but it can't hurt to say it.]

Got it.

[ He's going to take it back under the piano with him, anyway. Fortification within fortification. His advantage is being small, so you can bet he's going to use it. ]

We'll be just fine if we stay here, okay?

[He's not great at being reassuring, but those aren't empty words. This place is barricaded pretty well, and he has a pretty big gun.]

And it'll all be over with soon enough.

[ Back under the piano, bat in hand. He's not going to get much of a choice about going, what with Eden magicking her way in a bit later, but hey, he'll be a bit more secure for right now. ]

All right.

I'll be back to check up on you later.

[Because he really is patrolling this place like his life depends on it, which, to be fair, it might. That said, he pats the top of the piano reassuringly -- so much easier than actually patting Dewey's shoulder, or something -- and heads off to continue his patrol.]
