[And as the video comes up, here's Rosella, lightly dusted with sand and looking a bit sunburned as instant proof of her current location in the Desert City. She does, however, have her hair braided sensibly back, her sleeves rolled down, and a makeshift scarf wrapped around her neck and head to shade them from the sun, and in the hand not holding the Network device, it looks as though she's holding...a hand mirror?

The particularly eagle-eyed might notice that there seems to be a statue of some variety in the background of the shot, too--about a person's height and shape.]

It'd be a very good idea, I think, for anyone traveling in the desert to keep something that reflects on hand with them--a mirror, or a polished shield, or something of the like. And if you should think you see something in the distance, a figure of some sort walking your way...even if you're sure it's only a mirage, be certain to look away, and point the mirror at it, first.

[Her slightly chapped lips narrow into a thin line.]

It seems that on top of everything else, there are medusas out here. They're not quite so fearsome as some of the other monsters marauding about, really, but they're much more dangerous than one might think, especially if one underestimates them. So it's really only sensible to be careful.

[She sighs, rubbing her face with her sleeve.]

[OOC: Okay, so school sort of ate me alive this past week and I'm still a little behind on things, but here is a Rosella in the Desert City, apparently having a random encounter with the traditional King's Quest desert monster: a medusa. Team Sociopath, I'm assuming she's in your general vicinity at the moment? Or if you want to play it differently, ping me and I'll roll with pretty much anything. Like rampaging sand boars and the luaus that result from them. o/]

Well, I should certainly hope you wouldn't want to for fun. It's not a very pleasant place for a vacation by any means.

No, not in the least--I wasn't even especially fond of it before I heard that Medusa was apparently stalking the place.

[primrosella]

I suppose they aren't normally about in deserts in London, then? They're--well, not commonplace, exactly, but the desert does tend to be the sort of place where one might run across one, so it's the sort of thing one rather learns to watch out for.

There aren't any deserts in London.

Still, Rosella, it sounds as though you know your way about a desert. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.

I suppose we should keep moving.

There aren't any in Daventry either, really, but there's a rather famous one to the north in Serenia, past the mountains. Not that we make it a point to go running around deserts, of course, but as adventures go, there aren't many places more dangerous to be stuck in than one. So it's really only prudent to know a bit about how to manage one, I suppose.

I think that'd be for the best, yes.

Do you think anyone is listening?

Listening?

...Oh, er, about the warning, you mean?

[synanthrope]

Yes.

[primrosella]

I don't know. I suppose there isn't much way of knowing, really, but it's better than not giving any warning at all. At least this way there's the chance it might help someone who needs it.

Then for your sake, they ought to listen.

And since you are rather inclined towards adventuring, yes, it does seem rather prudent to know how to manage one.

For my sake? I'd think it'd be for their own, moreso than mind.

[synanthrope]

If it's for their own sake, the chances of them listening goes down.

[primrosella]

I suppose it's no different than being taught to manage a city, really. It's just a matter of trying to be prepared for whatever one might come across, whatever world one might be in.

And speaking of which, you're all right yourself, aren't you?

Oh. Er...I think I see, yes.

[No, she doesn't.]

Well, no matter whose sake it is, I do hope it helps, just the same.

Yes, I suppose that's true.

Do you suppose we're very far from the shelter the deities mentioned? Not that I'm particularly inclined to trust them, really, but it might be a bit easier to cope with than the open desert.
