GOOD MORNING, CITY!

[It is, in fact, the middle of the night but close enough to sunrise that she can say "morning." But that isn't the bizarre thing here. No, the bizarre thing is that Ginny Weasley is beaming so brightly, she might burst, practically vibrating with happiness and excitement.

Also, she's kind of covered in flour and glitter.]

Isn't it just a wonderful day? And it's only barely started! I know things have been so difficult lately, everything's just been so sad, and there's really no reason for it. Everything will sort out like always. Why get bogged down by the City at all? I know I've let it happen for far too long and that's a shame, really, when I've got so many reasons to be happy!

[She sets the camera precariously on something on the kitchen counter, leaning in close.]

I've got wonderful friends, doesn't matter what all those stupid nightmares say, no one's died on me since the war! And if anyone leaves to go home, well, I say good for them!

[This is punctuated by a fist banged on a cluttered kitchen counter and the camera topples and the video feed cuts out.]

I've got so many friends—really, I'm so lucky—and these cupcakes aren't going to make themselves! Well, I mean, they could, but doing them by hand's really charming, isn't it, and much more personal, and it's a lovely way to keep busy, besides.

He's my owl! Well, he was my professor's, but he went home so I adopted him. You'll meet him! He's very friendly. I'll send along an owl treat too so you can give him one to thank him for bringing your cupcakes!

I don't think I've ever even seen an owl up close. Just, you know, off in the trees, or flying.

Do I want to know what owls eat for treats?

They're very common pets in my world, I love having him around. And it's just a little snack, it isn't alive, I promise.

I never had a dog at home, no. One of our roommates did, for a little while, but I think it went with her. Or maybe he ran away somehow, I'm not really sure. Justin had a cat, though. And there's Annabel Lee, but she lives at the bookstore mostly. Because of the cat.

We did! She seems pretty happy hanging around the bookstore, and I think she'd do all right guarding it if anything ever happened. Besides that, sometimes people come in to look at her and end up buying books.

It's a poem. By Edgar Allan Poe-- it's sort of a dark poem, his mostly are.

We called her Annabel because there was an Annabelle in the book where Rosella found the spell to shrink the dragons, and once we figured out ours was a girl it seemed appropriate. And, well. I like poetry, I couldn't resist.
