I will admit envying Thor his ability to slip the noose of every situation and leave all others at the gallows awaiting their fate while he remains without guile for the ease at which he moves through life, so often at the expense of others.
Though, I likewise admit to interest in what this place is, how it is kept between realms, how access is barred save for those who know how to pass between the borders. Have any of the other forced inhabitants here illumination to shed on the subject? Even theories would be acceptable, I do miss intelligent discourse, so hard to find in any realm.

Your ability to charm rivals Fandral's, Loki.
video;
My, is someone taking commentary on their intelligence so personally? You are the occasional exception.
[At times.]

My, is someone taking commentary on their charm so personally? It was but an observation.

[Look at how humble he is.]

Like, okay she started it, but can we not. Talk about the D.]

Pumpkin pleases you, yes? [Whiplash subject changes.]
video;
But wait, that subject change-] Pardon?
video;
Pumpkin biscuits. And perhaps green apple. Do keep up.
video;
What I am keeping up with remains unclear.
video;
If you've still a taste for pumpkin. I am picking up a few things at market.

Well, I guess that doesn't really answer your question. I'm assuming that whomever controls the City has access to some pretty amazing technology and is probably doing whatever they can to prevent others from reaching their level.
[You said you wanted intelligent discourse, Silvertongue.]

Isn't it the nature of things that when one holds back the tide, it eventually crests and destroys what paltry means were keeping it at bay? Yes, that's a terrible extended metaphor.
[He does, feel free to engage.]

My mortality is actually up for debate lately. But you're actually misconstruing the nature of science. Science isn't a thing that's generated, it's a process by which we discover the world around us. You say magic is the manipulation of energy via your will - well, science would be a means by which we would come to understand the process by which the invocation of your will results in the desired result. Science has its tools, but then I've seen a lot of cases in which so does magic. Spells, magic wands, invocations, that sort of thing, right? How is it any different from beakers, formulas, and the Large Hadron Collider?
I see your point though, about dimensional displacement. If there is a space that exists outside the flow of time and well, space, that would probably be less costly in terms of energy. But within the pocket that's created, time and space still have to flow forward and I can't imagine that isn't costly.

Is that so? Then what manner of creature might you be? [Go ahead, tell uncle Loki. Look at what a kindly trickster god he is.]
That is quite the definition. I find I like it in spite of the natural inferiority of science when held against sorcery. I will admit they share some natural facts, that both are attempts to control an environment under particular circumstances, that such workings have laws and are repeatable.
Though... magic wand? [All his suspicion that you're putting him on.]
Ah, but that is the beauty if such a thing. Time does flow forward here, but the stolen objects need not be affected. Observe the environment, everything natural ages here, food spoils, grass grows, animals wither and die, but those things that are not innate, they remain the same. We, being of a separate timeline, are held in a sort of stasis, or perhaps-
That is contrary to the point. Consider how much energy is expended in bringing us here, yes, and then consider that they might not be generating the energy at all but using it to fuel our kidnapping. Most of us were brought here at times of heightened emotion- anger, sadness, joy, is this true of you? And there are clusters of us from the same worlds. Perhaps once breached the world is more easy to access.

[She shrugs.] My point is, tools are tools, regardless of what you use them for.
Something has to push time forward inside our bubble, even if they're not expending energy to keep this place as a fixed point. Things were...calm, when I was taken, but there had recently been some serious crazy going on.
I'm Lydia, by the way.
no subject
[He's feeling a bit crass.] Assuming one needs tools at all.
Well met, Lydia. I am Loki.
The Carousel, perhaps? It ticks down as a mortal clock, as a heartbeat. Or perhaps something as yet undiscovered by us mere prisoners here.
no subject
Like Loki, trickster and god of fire Loki?
The Carousel might very well be the tool, but I get the feeling few have gotten into its guts. Or those who have didn't understand it very well.

[He is impressed with your scope of knowledge.]
Then perhaps fresh eyes, more experienced than those before are what the situation requires.
no subject
Are you talking about yours, or mine? Mine may be fresh, but I haven't been here very long.

Sometimes when one is exposed to a problem for too long, they cannot look upon it anew, without any lingering theories or ideas from previous tries.
The Norse myths, hm? Throw around a bit of magic, tell a few stories and mortals shall believe anything.
no subject
People believe in magic a lot less these days. Unless they've actually seen it in action. Most perceive what they don't understand to simply not have a scientific explanation yet, rather than pointing and going 'oooh, magic'.

The government here is useless as far as I am concerned, they've hosted a revolution and done naught with the spoils of their victory.
no subject
What would you expect the government here to do, besides restore order?
no subject
This being the deities' home territory they would be able to make wards that others couldn't breach except under certain circumstances.

And who is yourself? Are you with the Aseir around here?
no subject
You ask without offering your own name? How crass.
no subject
You said, "One such as yourself" but I don't know who yourself is, so how can I determine if that's something to be impressed by.
But if you'd like names, I'm Theodred, or Theo.
