I can't believe a few days ago it was June for me and now it's the first of September. [ Remus is sitting cross-legged on his bed, leaflets of information spread before him. He's no longer in his school uniform but what he is wearing is quite close - a soft grey jumper that's rolled up to his elbows, a shirt underneath with a crooked collar. His smile is soft, open and eager. The thing about Remus Lupin is he likes making friends. What else would a person do here? Though he's still not quite sure what to do with his device, he's trying. If this is how people communicate then he'll get used to it.

Ginny was kind enough to let him stay with her and for that he's eternally grateful. It might not have been as easy for him to adjust or settle were he on his own. And besides, she's a witch. They're not from the same year but it's close enough. ] I should be getting on a train right about now, heading back to school. There'd be new books and parchment and classes and a whole different timetable and instead there's ... well, Xanadu's nice? I've explored quite a bit. And you have a lot of interesting creatures in the zoo.

[ A pause. It would be so easy to get bored, complacent. He doesn't want that. And he wants to find a way to help Ginny out. He's not really fond of being a freeloader. ] Actually, I was wondering about finding a job. I'd like to be able to do something and I don't know if there's a center or what have you. [ His qualifications are all wizarding though, so. ] I can pick a lot up up and I'm willing to work on a trial basis if that helps. Does anyone know if someone is looking?

[ A laugh and it's soft and nervous. ] I think I'd go barmy with nothing to do, so I'm open to literally anything.

I wouldn't exactly be worried. Just like you'd find in any other place, though, not all of the jobs are likely to be pleasant.

[And there're a fair amount of questionably legal things going on. Not that he'd know about that personally.]

Well, I won't say it isn't strange. It was April when I got here and December at home. [And, you know, decades upon decades but what's that in the long run?]

Finding something else-- a job or something-- will probably help.

[ He laughs then. ] A few pillows to the face, they aren't really trying at all.

[ Shaking his head. ] I've been warned off the Underground though. So at least there's something productive.

I was in the middle of December and now I've skipped back a few months. Not that I'm complaining, I was in Russia in December.

It is exceptionally confusing. Especially since I returned about a week after I left. I'm trying to remember what I was doing here.

I didn't remember anything when I was back home.

[ Remus doesn't really see the point in using the strange muggle contraption when he doesn't have to and so he ends the feed and heads into the living room.

He folds himself into the spare squishy cushioned armchair and smiles. ] I love September first. It always has just the right edge of magic to the air.

[She looks up with a smile, offering the bag of cheese and onion crisps.]

Autumn just about to start? Yeah. Second best season, I reckon. And we'd be at the feast, Dumbledore would give his speech but we'd be too busy grabbing as much food as our plates can hold to really listen. [Merlin, she misses it. All of it.] What was your favourite thing to eat, Remus? At Hogwarts.

[Maybe they can do a little welcome feast of their own for dinner.]

The pudding. Hogwarts has the best chocolate cake of anywhere. If man could live off cake alone I don't think I'd ever eat anything else ever again. [ A pause. ] Well, maybe I'd make an exception for the mashed potatoes.

The steak and ale pie, for me. But if it's pudding we're talking about then, yes, the chocolate cake is perfect. Those house elves really know what they're doing, I wish they kept recipes.
