[ Melissa is not in her scrubs this time, but her civvies, and she’s smirking quietly to herself. The memory of Scott closing the door in his father’s face is one that she’ll treasure for a very long time. ]

Hello? Scott McCall and I are back again. I think we just took a year off the poor worker’s life, the guy doing the drywall in the clinic? Yeah, not pretty. I’ve never seen a saw bounce before. Hope I never see it again.

[ And, sure enough, there’s a very loud buzzing just off camera. Apparently the worker heard that. Oops.

Into the feed, a wild Scott McCall appears! Just his head, anyway, leaning down into it beside his mother’s. ]

But, he’s fine, he’s fine! [ He looks off screen.. ] Nobody was injured. [ He looks back. ] Sorry to anybody if we had plans. But, we’re back now and we’re not planning on going anywhere. [ Unless everyone else gets out with them.

Melissa pokes her head back into frame again.]

Oh! And Lydia? Tell me you fed the cat? I mean...how long have we been gone, after all? Ziggy wasn’t too much of problem, was he?

[ Scott is about to say something else, but he notices something offscreen. ] No way. [ And he slides out of frame leaving Melissa to take the reins. Offscreen… ] Cool.

...Okay. Just a note to say we’re back. Stiles, Isaac, Derek? Are you all okay?

[ And Scott is back. ]

You’re still here, right? [ Scott brings it closer, fiddling and then soon, the feed is private! ]

[ Fiddling with it again, Scott adjusts to make the feed public once more ]

So, that’s what leaving is like. We had no clue we were here. And then we were just… back. If anybody needs us, we’ll be back at the apartment in a couple of minutes. Angela, I’ll be in to work tomorrow. [ A beat before he adds ] Has anybody heard from Wally?

[ ooc: Replies will be coming from both Scott and Melissa! ]

Healing a blind man? That would have taken a lot of power.

It did. It took a lot of power. She tried to attack Derek but he got the upperhand. But the lunar eclipse ended and she threw down a ring of mountain ash. I saw Ms. Morrell do it in the woods. It's thrown down and then a ring appears. She threatened everyone - she said she was going to bury them under the nematon.

[Lydia nods.] Ring around the rosey. [Whatever that means.] But what good did that do? I mean, making the ring. What's it for? And clearly she didn't bury them because they're all okay, right?

[affectioning]

We can't get through. When I found Deaton, when you went to Derek's with everyone, he was surrounded by a ring of mountain ash. Stiles' dad saved him by shooting him down. Humans can get through but werewolves can't. [ Which is why all could've been lost. ] She started using her power to finish the job. She was going to kill our parents. And Isaac and Allison and Stiles. They were there trying to get them out.

[lefthandedgenius]

[Okay, in the thick of it now, Lydia's got no questions presently - she knows this all came out well...more or less. But she wants to hear about how it got there.]

[affectioning]

But, I got through.

How'd you do that? If it's supposed to stop werewolves?

[affectioning]

I [ How does he even explain it. He looks down at his hand. ] I put my hands against it. I pushed. [ He closes his hand into a fist and looks up at her. ] I broke through. [ He sits up straighter, shifting. ] I'm an alpha now.

[lefthandedgenius]

[There's likely some kind of rhyme or reason to it that Lydia's unaware of and she'll pester him about it later.]

Okay.

You got through. But...did you kill her? [She sounds skeptical of that. Scott's not a killer.]

[affectioning]

No. I couldn't. I wouldn't. And neither did Derek. But, Deucalian stepped in. He slit her throat. [ He looks down and away. ] I told him to leave. We'd give him this one chance to get out of Beacon Hills and never come back.

[lefthandedgenius]

[From the look on her face she doesn't think that was the wisest decision...but who is she to judge?]

And then you got everyone out of the nemeton alright?

[affectioning]

Yeah. I called Stiles, made sure everyone was okay, and Derek and I got a ladder.

[lefthandedgenius]

So all's well that ends well, then.

[She peers at him.]

Only not quite.

[affectioning]

No. Alls well that ends well. [ A weak, maybe not convincing smile. He used to be a lot better at these. Maybe he's just a little bit tired. Or, his heart is. It's weary. ]

[Silence. There's a whole conversation in her look though, a message with nuance and multiple intentions:

I don't believe you. And you know I don't believe you. But I'm not going to push this, because it's too much for you right now, and I get that. But I don't believe you.]

[affectioning]

[ He doesn't need to worry her, so his eyes join in his smile, finally. ]

And that's everything.

[She smiles too, but it's slower to come. She'll let it go, at least.]

Okay. I'm glad you're back. I mean, it sucks you got yanked again, but you know what I mean.

[She'll leave it at that. For now.]

[affectioning]

At least this time I know everything's okay back home. Nobody's in immediate danger. [ A beat. ] You and Aiden are even happy. [ He wonders if that's mean. He means it as something to reassure her, let her know it meant something and that at some point he wasn't just using her. But, he realizes he may have just told her a relationship she's in has stalled because she's now here. ] Sorry if that's --

[lefthandedgenius]

[She is a little startled.]

Are we? I'm sure it's just - it's really --

[It's really about Lydia getting her rocks off and maybe just keeping an eye on the Straight Twin on behalf of her friends and if she happens to have lots of orgasms while doing so hey that's okay too...]

They helped. When push came to shove, they protected you. Kali attacked but you got them to Deaton. Ethan and Danny are happy, too. [ A beat. ] I think they're in my pack now. [ Or, they will be. He hasn't... talked to them yet. ] To him, it might be. [ Serious. But, whatever Lydia wants is what she wants. ]

[She's going to have to take some time to think about that. The whole package of the entire story tied up with this as a big red bow.]

I guess that's something I'll have to figure out when I go back. If I go back. [Because it's not like any decisions or progress or running away screaming about it can be done here.]

I am too, but you wouldn't be Scott McCall if that weren't obvious.

[Because it's who he is. The one who cares about everybody. The one who wants to do good. Lydia doesn't know anything about the dynamics involved with being a True Alpha, but if they're ever explained to her in detail, she would be agreeing, 100%.]

[affectioning]

[ His smile curls genuinely. His eyes say thank you. She may not know the logistics of being a true alpha. To be honest, it's not like Scott does at this point either. But, she's right. He cares for everyone else. He doesn't know who he's going to tell first about his dark heart - who he could even talk to - or if he's going to say anything to anyone. If he told Stiles, he'd have to go into why and he can't do that. He can't tell his mom. She'd worry for days on end. She worries enough.

He looks down then, picking at his salad. ]

I'm glad you came to live with us. [ Face it, he'd worry about her, too. Let's be honest... Setting down his fork, he takes her hand. The salad is a lost cause now. ] What happened -- it doesn't matter. And it doesn't change anything. We're still friends. We were - are friends.

[ Real friends. He would protect her with his life. He promised her this. He also promised her if she was going to give in to her powers - he'd be right there to prevent whatever could go down. He still means it.]

[It's probably the gentlest tone that Lydia's taken with someone in a long time.]

Of course we are. And we'll get through this. And what's going on back home. We're a tough bunch.
