[ It's obvious Clary doesn't mean for the video to be filming. She's in a bar somewhere, a colourful cocktail umbrella tucked into the mane of her red hair and a familiar chain around her throat catching the light. She's lent over the bartop, her device on the surface beside her. The stool next to her is empty but there's a bag that Clary's guarding that isn't hers. She's obviously not out drinking alone.

The bartender passes over the two glasses, bright lurid liquids that leave condensation on the glass. Clary picks her own up and sips at it, her nose wrinkling slightly before she puts it back down and glances over the too crowded floor. It's not usually her scene but hey - nobody's asked her age here.

Of course, not being her scene she reaches for the device, realises it's recording. Clary drops it immediately, covers the camera with a beer mat. A moment passes and she's lifting it up again, guilty and very clearly a little tipsy. ] Oops?

[Oh those familar eyes are filled with amusement and only a little concern.]

It is a little too late to be hiding the alcohol Clary.

[And one quick bathroom break later, Mae comes back to her seat, hanging the bag under the protuding edge of the bar's counter, reaching for her drink with a happy sigh.]

Ahhh, the perks of a very loose drinking age restriction in this place.

[Honestly, Mae, you should know better. Fuck, you're legal now and almost slowly inching towards twenty. But no, no, clearly no explosion or earthquakes can stand in the way of girls on a 'everything sucks, let's go out tonight' adventure.]

[ She gives a nervous burst of laughter, her elbow against the bartop as she tucks a strand of hair behind her ear. ] I wasn't hiding it on purpose! Well, okay, I was. But I didn't mean to show the network either so really it's not my fault.

[He is laughing.]

This is the second accidental video I've seen from you in a short space of time.

I think I accidentally drunk dialed the entire City.

[ But who could be angry at the literal embodiment of all things angelic? Especially when she's adorably confused and has an umbrella in her hair. ]

[ A smile. ] I know, it's like I've forgotten how to be in charge of this thing.

Ah. [She takes a slow sip from her glass, before picking the straw umbrella from it, cleaning it with a tissue, and leaning over to place it neatly in some other part of Clary's hair (the culprit!!!)]

But you looked fine doing it.

[ She laughs, a quiet helpless sound. ] I looked like an umbrella stand for fairies.

[ She's met the fae and they weren't the kindest but Clary's not thinking about that right now. She's just licking sugar from her thumb and then taking a sip of her drink. ] I like this one the best.

You are doing better than I am still. I am sure I took a video of my feet walking down the street earlier.

It's quite delicious. [She leans her head against her palm, elbow on the counter.] You know, you're supposed to take it slow and savour them. We drink cocktails for fun, Clary, and because we can. They're fun drinks.

You at least have an excuse, Mr. Carstairs. [ Teasing. ] You're from like a billion years ago, it makes sense. I actually have a phone. And a videocamera. And a whole ton of things like that. I should be able to use them right.

I am savouring it.

[ She crosses her feet under her stool and watches Mae. For a moment she thinks that she just wishes she could go home. She'd like to find Mae in her world, of course she would. But she misses her mom. And Simon.

She misses Jace but she shouldn't. ]

I'm totally doing the thing. [ Tapping her glass with the edges of her rings. ] Slowly.

[Missing people is normal, Mae would say. Missing people happens when you have a heart of gold and love many people. Mae would miss people in either case - in the City she misses Jamie, and Alan and Nick and Sin; back home, she'd miss Clary, and Stiles, and Ginny, and Chase, and how has she made so many friends in this place, it'll ruin her.

She takes a larger sip.] Excellent. This is going to be the moment where we talk about something inane and vaguely objectifying, like boys' behinds. [Hey, she knows that Clary hasn't had the girlfriends experience much, so she's condensing it!]

[cupio]

[ She laughs into her glass, gaze darting to Mae's. ]

I don't know if we're going to find anyone to objectify in here.

[brobeforehos]

But we know people.

[cupio]

We do know people.

[ She raises both eyebrows, twisting her ring around. ] What people are we thinking about?

[brobeforehos]

People with nice assets. [Snorting softly into her drink, yes she's very clever, be quiet.]

[cupio]

[ Clary takes another sip of her drink and twists her hair a little, dislodging the umbrella. ]

Okay, who do you like?

[brobeforehos]

[Chokes a bit!! Dhjskh maybe this was a bad idea. She coughs, clears her throat.]

Do you mean like who do I think is attractive?

[cupio]

[ ... ]

Oh my god are you okay? [ Leaning forward. ] And yeah, c'mon, this is girl time you have to tell me.

[brobeforehos]

[DUG HER OWN TRAGIC FUCKING GRAVE. But come on, Clary, you know half the people on the list already.]

Lots of people! [Coughs again, god that sip sure went down the wrong way.]

[cupio]

[ Wow. She's just going to maybe drink half of this cocktail and wait for Mae to get her lungs in order. ]

Perhaps you have too many gadgets and cannot remember how to use them all.

You're not, you're doing well! [She pats Clary on the back, before pulling a face.]

I just clearly miscalculated how eager I'd be to make the whole list, but okay - let's see. Attractive people - in the City, right?

Maybe. Simon would be better at it than I am. He'd have understood it immediately.
