Hi, I want to introduce myself. My name is Uhura. Apparently, I've been here before, but I have no memory of that, so I feel like it would be best to start from the ground up. I apologize if I have forgotten something important about you.

I do have a question for everybody: what languages do you know other than the one I'm speaking in now?

Swahili by descent, or parents with very cool name-giving taste? Or you know, both?

Both and I grew up in Kenya. There was no way I was getting away without learning it.

So how are you filling your time given the sheer amount of testosterone you have to put up with?

I know no one expects anybody to say this? But I actually miss school.

Finding my own place, actually. And maybe I'll get a cat to manproof it too.

[Except for Spock. Spock is always welcome no matter what.]

I kind of miss school too. It's okay. We can be teacher's pets together.

But once you find your own place?

Cats are alright. I actually have a dog. Had a dog. I hope he's okay.

I mean, there's ways to fill the time. Yoga in the morning, shopping, there's a club scene, I suppose there's the library. But I'm going to get bored really easily without something for my brain to flex over.

I don't know yet. I offered to teach somebody Swahili, but I'm not charging her. That doesn't mean I won't charge others for tutoring if there's enough of a demand.

[Or if she has time in between following Kirk's orders and keeping an eye on the network. Networks. Uhura has her own.]

You do yoga? I always wanted to try that, but I always got distracted by work. And I'm not much of a clubber. I go to bars and I do like shopping. I never get to go shopping anymore.

Yeah, I doubt there's any classes here, but a few of the forms are really easy. I could show you if you want. I mean, anybody can do 'Greet the Sun'.

I think you'll have plenty of free time, so shopping should definitely go back on your list. I don't mind bar hopping but I do like to dance.

You're lucky, if you're good with languages. Somehow I doubt I'm going to find anyone particularly interested in being tutored in calculus or astrophysics.

Now I don't know anybody who needs tutoring in either of those, but I have a degree in math and know a couple of people who could talk astrophysics all day? I could hook you guys up.

That would be great, thank you! Though admittedly, this place files more under theoretical quantum physics. But it's a bridge.

So. Shopping sometime soon?

Maybe tomorrow? I have a list of things my apartment needs. And I need too.

Oh, Spock? [Lydia brightens a little.] I met him at Ginny's party. He wants to do a brain scan on me. We had a great convo about M-Theory. He's not exactly great at parties though, is he? I'd love to talk more with him, and anyone else really, about it though. Back home I'm in Mu Alpha Theta.
