Hi, I want to introduce myself. My name is Uhura. Apparently, I've been here before, but I have no memory of that, so I feel like it would be best to start from the ground up. I apologize if I have forgotten something important about you.

I will assist you in acquiring furniture. I am aware of several outlets where it is of quality and affordable.

And then you and I can throw a housewarming party. Just us. [She waves a hand behind her, indication the rest of the crew is decidedly not invited.] I'll give you a key.

I have learnt to bake.

[She's slightly taken aback by that, but not in a bad way.]

Very recently. I have discovered it is relatively simple.

Well, it's a good skill to have, especially when I start craving sweets.

[Hint, hint, Spock. She's going to put you to work.]

What is your preferred egg to flour ratio?

[This is now a thing. Yeah.]

[He gives her an odd look, before he repeats the question.]

[Don't be looking at her like that.]

I heard what you said, Spock. The problem is that I don't understand what you're asking me.

[logistical]

Baked goods frequently contain eggs, and flour, but in the course of my research I have concluded that there are few specific ratios which result in the desired taste. Which would you prefer? I have a list, if you wish to peruse it.

You're asking me what I want you to make? Just say that then.

[A laugh and she's reaching to ruffle his bangs.]

I guess I can't ask for rokeg blood pie, so how about brownies?

[THAT'S WHAT HE SAID. huff!!]

I have some cocoa powder left over.

I'm excited to see what you come up with.

[And the fact the entire tray will be just for her.]

[He tilts his head, leaning into her hand.]

Chocolate brownies.

There are a ton of different kinds, though. Surprise me.

[Let's face it, he's not good at surprises and she usually guesses everything that's on his mind anyway.]

[Ah, but Uhura can and will pretend to be surprised anyway. It won't kill her to do that.

Her fingers work through his hair, mussing it up, and she starts quietly humming some little song. For someone who knows how touch effects him, she still can;t help it sometimes. It calms her, relaxes her, and she's okay with him reading that.]

What else have you learned from being here?

[He knows.]

[He's aware of what she must sense, too, when she makes contact, the overpowering sensation of warmth, concern, and - love. His emotions run deep and she's earned the right to read every single one of them as they break to the surface (and even when they don't).]

[Right now, he is a pile of relief, and contentment. She is back, it doesn't matter that she doesn't remember, she's here and she's everything.]

I have been studying the curses that sweep the city. So far they appear completely random in occurrence and affected persons.

[phonetical]

[It feels like a warm blanket on a cold night. First she feels it in her mind and then in the rest of her body, head to foot, where she wiggles her toes and relishes in it. It's been weeks and months since she's felt him this way, so calm and wanting nothing else in the world than what they have right here. No rage, no sadness, just him at his least amount of problems.

Uhura wants to feel him like this forever.]

So it's like rolling a die and you're just unlucky that particular day?

[He has rarely had the time to be in this situation again, when both of them are calm, the silence is not heavy both their shoulders. He often feels this is a form of meditation, in and of itself, and he could - even if he denies it - stay stuck in this moment forever. She's an ocean in her own right, deep, barely fathomable, but beautiful and there, the warm water and gentle waves lapping at his feet.]

It appears so. The Captain has been most.. unlucky. Almost every curse this month has affected him. Doctor McCoy has been spared so far.

[Those two's wellbeing are just as import as the rest of theirs.]
