[Someone else has arrived in the City, landing in the fountain, which seems to be a tradition here. The screen of the device, which is waiting conveniently for the latest guest on the edge of the fountain, captures the woman as she surfaces, squints against the sun then quickly checks the water around her for her sunglasses. She notices the device, but is distracted when one of her hands locates her missing shades. She stands -- a woman in a tight, black wardrobe, leather belt with a gold skull buckle and two guns strapped to her thighs. The lower part of her legs are still in the water.

Her dark brown hair is pulled back in a long, French braid. She's wearing very little make-up, but then, she doesn't really need to wear much at all as her rather striking beauty comes through, even in this slightly bedragled state. Strands of her hair have come free from the braid and her clothing appears to have been dragged through some mud before her arrival. Her other hand reaches behind her for a small backpack and unerringly unzips the pocket she needs. A mobile phone drops out into her hand. She checks it for connectivity, but seems to be having trouble getting a signal. She sighs, slides a look to the device and walks toward it, water splashing a little as she moves. She leans closer, looking the item over with a 'hmmm', then she addresses whoever might be able to receive her message. She smiles a little, her voice is pleasant and the accent in definately British.]

Well, hello. This doesn't seem to be the ruins of Aztlán.

[She doesn't appear overly upset by this development as she slowly nods, once, toward the device.]

I suppose this is some sort of general feed video phone. Interesting. Strange place to leave it lying around. My phone... is wet and I need to make a few calls. Anyone at the other end?

[ Eyes still firmly on her eyes. ]

Nope. I got here two weeks or so ago? And I have friends and now my mom here. I'm from Beacon Hills, California. [ But, he still knows some stuff about it! ]

[Good fellow. Not that she'd care.]

Sounds like you've settled in. Have to tried to leave?

[ He's still polite. ]

How?

[Always prudent.]

Ring for a taxi? Walk? If there is no other option. Surely we can't be too far from a train station or something.

[ Hilariously enough, he hasn't tried. ]

I haven't, I've just taken everybody's word for it. It's a parallel pocket dimension.

[Good Lord...]

Really?

[This word covers the him-not-trying to leave part and the parallel-dimension part.]

Don't you think we should give it a try?

You can. [ He can, too. But, it never occurred to him. REPORT BACK. ] I have friends who've been here a few years. I assumed...

Ah.

[She isn't going to judge him. The circumstances are very strange and his body language tells her that he is being honest.]

Well, is there a... next step you would recommend?

[ This is the weird part of the conversation. ]

Maybe get comfortable. If we can't leave - I've been here for almost three weeks - then, maybe get a job or something. Oh, find an apartment, too. A place to stay.

[The epitome of video-gaming adventurer regards him for a moment, then nods slowly.]

And how would you suggest I find a... job and a... flat?

[Because she obviously has a lot of work to do.]

The network? Maybe explore. Ask around. Apartments are easy to find. There's a welcome center over there. Ask for Penny and she'll be able to help out. Is anybody here that you know? When I got here, a friend answered back. I moved in with him. [ And the antisocial misanthrope he was living with. ]

No one I know has responded. I'll likely... find a towel and perhaps visit the center, as you suggest, then use that, I presume, to inquire about lodgings?

[She nods to the device sitting on the side of the fountain, which was transmitting when she first arrived, because 'network', what?]

Yeah. Exactly. There are maps, too, clothing, anything you'd need is there. [ Oh, he gets it. ] Oh, you mean the network device. Yeah, you can. But, the welcome center is your best bet. [ Right now. ] Use that for when you're ready to find a job.

I understand. Thank you for taking the time to over.

[She glances back at the event behind them.]

How are things going, then?

[Maybe being conversational will help her stay grounded until she gets a better grip on all this.]

It's no problem.

They're going good. It's an animal drive. I took over the shelter. We're trying to give as many pets homes as we can because we're going to be changing it.

Well, that is a noble cause. What are you changing it into?

An animal clinic.

I see. That's certainly a noble thing to be doing.

[When trapped in a bubble universe...]

I've only just arrived or I'd ask if you had any dogs...

[ That you may never leave. Missed that part? ]

We do. But, after you get settled you can ask me again. Some people are fostering the ones that aren't adopted so they won't have them forever. If you're still interested, be sure to let me know.

[No, she heard that part, She just doesn't believe it yet.]

I'll keep that in mind.

Well, I'd best go the the welcome center and get myself sorted.

[Because she is still wet, after all.]
