[ He reaches the apartment barely out of breath. He's the picture of professionalism but anyone who knows him as well as they do will see the anxiety immediately. The Doctor'd been shouting, Jim had been coughing and Nyota -- he does not even want to consider what he might do if she's been harmed. ]

[ He knocks, the rapping hard and too loud in the empty corridor. The sharp shard in his heart is... dread. ]

[ The City is his to explore for the moment. He's out of uniform, dressed plainly in dark-coloured coat and pants (yes, in the heat, perks of growing up in a desert). He hasn't done anything about the ears quite yet, but a hat is with him, half-poking out of a pocket, just in case. ]

[ The meandering appears to be random, but to anyone watching closely (or long enough) a discernible pattern emerges: a simple grid layout with delays between returns to certain points. He's checking back, double checking, too. Mostly, he can be found with his tricorder, occasionally peering quizzically at it, or observing a few people at the central arrival square. (Maybe he's even observing you.) ]

[ Once he gets the hang of the network, he opts for a simple text post. No need to unnecessarily alarm anyone who is unfamiliar with aliens, and furthermore, no need to bring attention to his presence. Khan may have unexpected allies. ]

Greetings. I am a recent arrival.

What is the highest level of technology available here? Is it freely available to the populace? Where might I find parts?

Every other day or so? [She shrugs, twisting her hair up into a bun and securing it with the pencil.] At least that's how it was last time I was here. Some lasted longer than others.

[welp there go all his nonexistent desires for a normal life.]

What data exists on them?

[Dude, you live on a spaceship. There is no normal for you.]

Um... shit. Somebody here probably has some info, but I don't know who. I just got back, so you're better off asking the network because information around here changes hands a lot.

[A beat.]

I am Spock. It is a pleasure to meet you.

[Although one can't guess from his tone whether he's happy or... anything, really.]

[Angela automatically holds out her hand for a shake. Nevermind if that's a foreign concept to Spock.]

Angela. Likewise.

[He stares at the outstretched hand like Angela is holding out a poisonous animal. Normally, he'd very crossly correct the perpetrator of this heinous crime but living amongst the crew for that long has tempered him somewhat. He shakes her hand, but very briefly and stiffly, and if she's really concentrating she'll feel an odd tingling sensation and a flash of curiosity and gratitude.]

[Don't be rude, Spock. When in Rome, yadda, yadda, yadda.

But Angela chalks it up to some difference in alien/human interactions and doesn't hold it against him when he does shake her hand weirdly. She does, however, rub her fingers together absentmindedly when she pulls her hand back because they feel... odd? Like itchy, no, numb. No, not that either. Maybe like she just got a static shock? Whatever it is, she just ends up ignoring it.]

[He entertains a small war over telling her. He might get unsolicited shoulder pats or hugs or something like Jim does, and it's quite typical for a human.]

I am a touch-telepath. Physical contact is unadvisable.

Oh. [She glances down at her fingers, still rubbing them, and then up at him with a slightly crooked grin.] I guess it's good I have nothing to hide then.

[No, Spock, she's totally gonna end up hugging you one day. It is the way of the Angela.]

It is considered intrusive.

[Mostly on his end, as - shrugging lightly - he seems rather unaffected by the fact that she might be tactile. He knows how not to pour all his emotions on somebody, after all.]

I guess if you didn't warn people, sure, but if we both know, there's nothing you can do about it. It what makes you you. I've had people fiddle with my mind before without permission. That's when I get mad.

[She misses Sookie like hell. That mind reading skill of hers saved Angela's life once, and she did it with fair warning too.]

[He shakes his head.]

I am not aware of your thoughts unless I am deliberately searching for them. However, emotional transference is a common side effect.

[Also he's really, really glad she's accepting this so easily.]

You can just look at my face and know what I'm feeling. That doesn't take any special skill.

[So true. She can't lie to save her life most times and she wears all her emotions on her sleeve. Don't need to be a Vulcan to know when she's depressed.]

[He'd wince if he could.]

I am not that well-acquainted with human facial expressions.

[She can fix that by pointing to her face, eyes just as bright and wide as her smile.]

Well, right now, I'm amused. In a good mood.

[He raises an eyebrow. Very, very dryly:]

Fascinating.

That face you're making... [Now she's pointing to him.] It's sarcasm. Don't know human facial expressions, my ass.

[Now he's just smirking.]

More data on the subject is always welcome.

[More data? Sure. Have some in the form of her flipping him the bird with an equal smirk.]

[Now he's almost frowning.]

What does that gesture mean?

Take a guess.

[She's interested in hearing his take on this.]

I am reminded of the expression "stick in the mud".

[That's what it looks like, to him.]

Well, you probably could do it to somebody who is a stick in the mud, but it's much more insulting. It means fuck you or go fuck yourself, fuck off... a lot of fucking and not in the way where everybody gets all sweaty and has fun.

[Oh, for the love of everything that is holy.]

[Both eyebrows go up but lbr he's heard a lot worse.]
