[ He reaches the apartment barely out of breath. He's the picture of professionalism but anyone who knows him as well as they do will see the anxiety immediately. The Doctor'd been shouting, Jim had been coughing and Nyota -- he does not even want to consider what he might do if she's been harmed. ]

[ He knocks, the rapping hard and too loud in the empty corridor. The sharp shard in his heart is... dread. ]

[action; open]

[ The City is his to explore for the moment. He's out of uniform, dressed plainly in dark-coloured coat and pants (yes, in the heat, perks of growing up in a desert). He hasn't done anything about the ears quite yet, but a hat is with him, half-poking out of a pocket, just in case. ]

[ The meandering appears to be random, but to anyone watching closely (or long enough) a discernible pattern emerges: a simple grid layout with delays between returns to certain points. He's checking back, double checking, too. Mostly, he can be found with his tricorder, occasionally peering quizzically at it, or observing a few people at the central arrival square. (Maybe he's even observing you.) ]

[text]

[ Once he gets the hang of the network, he opts for a simple text post. No need to unnecessarily alarm anyone who is unfamiliar with aliens, and furthermore, no need to bring attention to his presence. Khan may have unexpected allies. ]

Greetings. I am a recent arrival.

What is the highest level of technology available here? Is it freely available to the populace? Where might I find parts?

Your assistance is appreciated.

[ be thankful for jim's lack of respect for personal space, spock. it could be worse. in response to his question, she shakes her head. no, she's alone in being from the 24th century here, in command of a group of people she's studied since grade school. it's a little surreal, even in the face of everything she's been through.

turning, she starts to walk in the direction of xanadu, expecting him to follow. ]
Tell me -- how familiar are you with temporal theory, Mister Spock?

Would you like to learn? Temporal anomalies and I may not have the best of relationships, but I'm well-acquainted with what makes them tick.

[ she laughs, always the avid appreciator of vulcan humor. ]

That depends on what you want to know. Perhaps I could start by shedding some light on the anomaly that occurred in your own time. Your captain's shared some of that with me, but his perspective lacks the precision of a scientist's eye, so to speak.

From what I gathered, it sounds like part divergence, part predestination paradox in the sense that your version of reality would've never been brought into existence if not for the people from my version of it who played a part in its creation. In a sense, those individuals, from the Romulans aboard that ship to your older counterpart, were always meant to be flung back in time and throw history off it's "proper" path.

Of course, that's just my best guess. I'd need to know more about the temporal anomaly created by that Romulan ship in order to make a more precise estimation of what exactly happened that day and to your timeline, see data gathered from the original incident...

[ she lights up in a way only scientific intrigue can make make her do, like voyager's just stumbled upon a rare stellar phenomenon that the federation hasn't been privy to witnessing in over a century. ]

That sounds like a fair exchange. The data on that temporal anomaly for a copy of the Temporal Prime Directive.

[ oh, she does. god bless vulcans. ]
