( Alexiel is glaring at her communicator, her eyes glowing malevolently. She is sitting at a bar and a number of empty (and large) cups are scattered in front of her. )

I don't feel anything. ( Drunk or otherwise. No, that's not true, actually. She's still pissed off and the alcohol only splashes against the barrier of her rage. Useless. )

Nothing can make this better. ( She shoves the cups off of the bar and stands up. As the glass shatters on impact, she stands up. Immediately, the room spins and she covers her mouth with her hand, coughing.

So she had been wrong. There is an effect. It's just not the one she wants. )

I've never really been into that kinky shit. [Whatever he says, Setsuna wraps his arms tightly around Alexiel. He smells the alcohol. Yeah, probably best he went to her.]

Ropes probably can't hold me, anyway. How 'bout I get a drink. One of whatever you were having.

Too bad. ( She kisses the side of his head, finally letting a few tears drop onto his shirt. ) I'll bully you into them.

( Who says she needs to step back to let him walk into the bar? Crazy people, that's who. She walks backwards instead, still holding onto him securely. )

How have you been?

You are quite the bully, but I'll get free again. [He kisses her cheek, and more than feels the tears than sees them. Still, when he does, he frowns a little.]

I thought I hated just making Sara cry. But maybe I hate making people I care about cry. [His arms stay around her, just in case. This walking backwards thing could end badly if she's drunk!]

And I was doing pretty good. But now I feel kinda bad I'm not here anymore.

I can be when I need to be. ( She'll likely blame it on being drunk later - not that the alcohol is doing more than making her sick at the moment. But who is keeping track of this stuff? )

Your heart is good. ( So of course he would care about making people cry.

Remarkably, she doesn't trip as she leads him to the bar, though she is wearing heels.

Oh Alexiel, she even defies gravitational forces. )

No, you don't. You're glad you're here and I'm glad you're here. Even if you go back, I needed to see you.

[He's mildly impressed, but mostly not paying attention once they're at the bar.]

What? Now you're gonna bully me into being glad? [There's a smile, before he orders a drink.]

But yeah, I'm happy to see you again. Like I was telling Hatter, this isn't something you and I will likely get to do again.

( She sits down heavily and orders herself a glass of water. More drinking will interfere with her focusing on him and that's not okay. )

I will do what I have to. ( To see him smile again. ) Hatter told me Lucifer is here too. Have you run across him?

( Not that... Well, okay. It matters. But her focus is on Setsuna now. )

It might be. Who knows what the future will bring? Until then, it seems I'm going to stay with Hatter.

[He stops mid-drink when she mentions Lucifer, then looks away.] At least you get to see him. But no, I haven't run across him. [Not sure he wants to. That could go over badly, depending on what Lucifer knows. There's no reason for it without Rosiel's presence, but still.]

[A light chuckle.] At least Hatter is sexually open, in case you need anything.

( Setsuna.

You didn't.

Alexiel's eyes widen and she smacks him upside the head. )

Who do you think I am?! Do you think I'm promiscuous?!

[One hand goes up to where she smacked him, eyes wide.]

I was only joking! You said you're stuck with Hatter.... It just.... [His mouth.] I know you only want Lucifer like that.

Just like I only want Sara like that.

( She narrows her eyes before sighing. Staying mad at him isn't possible. )

I'm living - residing - with Hatter, but not like that. ( Besides, she knows where Hatter's heart lies. )

And who knows why I'm attracted to him? He's nice to have around. ( Lucifer, that is. She is full of crap, of course. It's more than likely that she missed Lucifer as much as she missed Setsuna. )

I know, I know. But Hatter.... Well, you can take care of yourself, at least. [Back to that drink he missed out on.]

[He side-eyes her as she speaks of Lucifer, smirking a little. He knows, but Setsuna doesn't press.]

You should see him, you know. You never know how long this might last.

I'm not worried. ( She thinks she has a good handle on Hatter's limitations and they both like their independence (in different arenas), so they should be fine. Besides, she sort of likes talking to Hatter. )

I hear he's looking for me. ( The last time she saw him was up in heaven. ) But that doesn't matter. Did you reunite with everyone?

He should come to you. That's only right. [Setsuna smiles, but it falters, a little melancholy. He won't be looking for Setsuna any longer. But that has to be all right.]

Yeah. With Sara. Before I came back here again, just for a little bit.

( There are so many changes that she endures from lifetime to lifetime. The one constant has been Lucifer. Yet she knows that Setsuna hasn't really found his constant outside of Sara. Maybe she is his constant or maybe there is someone else that Setsuna hasn't met. Regardless, Alexiel wants him to find them and cherish them in all the ways she could never show Lucifer. )

You'll go back to her and you'll be able to live the life you deserve.

Yeah.... [He knocks back the entire glass.] I guess something's always going to be missing. [Even if he couldn't remember, he still felt it.]

[He always believed Sara was his constant, he still does. But he'd be lying if he said he wasn't drawn beyond that as well. He still writes those feelings off as Alexiel's, though.]

Not always. ( Setsuna is young and he is only beginning his life. ) Keep searching and you might find something you never expected.

I'll be watching you.

I guess.

[He gives her a weak smile.] I wish it could be like it was here.

Give it a chance. ( She turns to face him, expression serious. ) I love you, Setsuna. I want the best for you. You will find what you're looking for, I know it. It's...in our nature.

[He shakes his head a little.] No, I just mean, I wish we could be separate there like we are here. But I'm not sure that's doable until I die.

[Some quiet.] I love you, too. I used to think I hated you, but that feels like a very long time ago, now.

I wouldn't blame you if you hated me. ( She doesn't even flinch. ) Because of me, you were dragged into hell.

( Quite literally. )

In a way, we will always be separate. But I understand what you mean. I wish...

( A faint smile. )

We could be friends.

[Another shake of his head.] Nah, not for that. I went to Hell on my own, anyway. But I didn't like someone controlling my body against my will. That freaked me out.

Then I spent so long thinking I couldn't live up to who you were, and the person everyone expected me to be. Once I got over that, you became easier to understand.

[He reaches for her hand.] Friends? You wanna downgrade things? We got some bond stronger than that, and we already have it. It's just nice getting to hug you, is all. Touch.... It's something we can't have back home.

That would cause anyone to panic. ( But she hadn't had much choice. It was either use Setsuna or lose him and/or chances when they cropped up. )

I liked dreaming about your life. You had a much happier existence than any of my past lives and, more importantly, you had hope. I think I lost my hope a long time ago.

( Her eyebrows raise and she grins, squeezing his hand. )

I would never downgrade our relationship. But what word should I use for us? Soulmates?

Yeah, but my hatred had nothing to do with the events that happened. Those weren't your fault. I chose to take on that route, after a time.

[He leans into her while listening.] I want to keep giving you that. We can be separated, or you can stay with me until it's over. Keep dreaming it and living it. [A squeeze to her hand.] I thought I was your hope?

[Another chuckle.] Soulmates? Maybe. But definitely not friends. I've never shared my body like this with just friends.

Because of your heart. You could have resisted. I would have forced you anyway. ( She isn't going to pretend she would have been kind. ) But when you listened to me, I grew to care about you even more.

( Her arm slides around him while she absently toys with his hair. )

If that's possible, I will dream about your life and keep you safe. That would make me happiest. ( Beyond taking care of Rosiel, of course. )

I'm not sure if that's even the right word, but it's closer. ( She echoes his laugh. ) I would hope not.

You didn't need to, though. [He leans his head against hers, leaning into Alexiel's touch.]

Then do that. You keep dreaming, and I'll be your hope.

[He only has a pleased smile for that. It doesn't have to be complicated, even if he's not sure what they are. That's fine. They never needed to define it.]
