[Korra is done with the hospital. So very, very, VERY done.

Unfortunately, neither her body nor the hospital staff agree. Just a few more days, they promise her. You sustained major trauma from those bullet wounds. Personally, she finds the pain less traumatic than the terrible smell and the snoring of her roommates. (She's able to think this only because of really excellent pain medication.)

The biggest problem with being stuck in the hospital, though, is that it gives her too much time to think. About the injuries she sustained. About how she's going to need physical therapy. About the fact that no matter how hard she tries, she might never be able to move the way she used to again. The doctor warned her that her shoulder will be prone to popping out of its socket, and that her muscles may be stiff and harder to move than before. She's very lucky that none of the bullets shattered bone or nicked any organs. She could have died or been paralyzed. She tries to remember that and feel grateful, but mostly she feels like, bit by bit, everything that makes her her is being chipped away.

She hates hospitals.]

[ Her tone is steel. She's perfectly happy to enforce doctor's orders. ]

YES. FOR MORE REST. [GOSH LIN.] There are some exercises they want me to do too to get my muscles back in shape.

[lawbender]

Good. Make sure you follow their instructions.

[ lalala, let's ignore the fact that she got out of her sickbed to try to rescue Korra before she came to the City... ]

Yes. I will. [somebody kill her she can't deal with all this fussing]

[lawbender]

[ It's killing with caring! ]

.....thanks. [That was something Korra didn't expect to hear.]

[lawbender]

Then we can talk about what you did to get into this mess.

[ Well. Yes. There you go. ]

I DIDN'T DO ANYTHING!

[lawbender]

I'm not accusing you of anything. [ She folds her arms. ] It's just that a situation like this doesn't generally happen on its own. I want the details.

[anatural]

I've already told the police everything. I was just singing by the Fountain when this lunatic shot me!

[lawbender]

It's likely enough in the City. [ She doesn't think Korra is lying. She's just... ugh. is there any way to keep this kind of thing from happening? Korra seems to get herself injured altogether too often. ] Have you spoken to the suspect before?

[anatural]

[She tries to cross her arms in a sulk, but ow her shoulder hurts.]

No.

[lawbender]

Good. [ Lin is quiet a moment. ] It seems like trouble after trouble with you. [ She holds up a hand to forestall objection. ] I don't think that all of them are your fault. But I do think you need to look carefully at your choices in the future.

[anatural]

[Korra's face burns, because Lin's words feel SO FREAKING UNFAIR but at the same time she knows they're true. Scowling, she looks away and settles forcefully into her bed.]

I'm tired.

[lawbender]

Get some rest.

[ She gets up to leave. ]

[anatural]

Hn.

[She turns away, but says, very softly] Thanks, Chief.

[lawbender]

[ Oh no, feelings. Lin nods stiffly in acknowledgment before she goes. ]
