[The video screen comes up on one lightly tan arm and shoulder. The fringes of blonde hair can be seen brushing against skin. There's a couple of seconds of someone singing softly and humming along to unheard music. It's a song by one of those new boy bands from England. After a moment a hand picks the device up to move it and the owner of the device notices that it's on. There's a quick flash of the rest of the owner and Lucy's face comes into view. She's lying in a lounger on top of the roof of her building in a bikini doing some sun bathing.]

Hi. I didn't turn you on. The device I mean, not the City because duh. Clearly. Anyway, since you are tuned in. This month has been different. I mean with all the curses. So impromptu poll:

Who is even in charge of that? Deciding what names mean? There's got to be a book somewhere, but who wrote the book. Maybe there's a committee...

They're just words, aren't they? Names, I mean. At their root, they're really just words. A girl can be named "Rose" and you now what a rose is. A boy can be named "Peter" and "Peter" means "rock" and you know what a rock is.

A name is a word for one thing applied to another thing.

"Lucy," for instance, means "light." I think it suits you.

[She smiles broadly at him.]

[He smiles right back!]

Aww, shucks. [He says it playfully.] I think I like you too, Lucy.

It's been a few months now, I think. It was wintertime when I got here, so it's got to be six months now, or close to it.

Three and a half years. So, definitely not a newbie. It's got it's up and it's downs. I meet people here that I'd never meet at home.

[She's trying to be positive about the City. Really.]

But, you know, that's really true: you can meet people here that you'd have a hard time meeting anywhere else.
