[Penny has taken the night off for sanity's sake and, therefore, isn't posting from the Welcome Center. Her surroundings will undoubtedly be recognized as the Blue Light's bar to citizens who have been in the City for some time. It's not a happening night; most of the bar stools are empty and the bartender's busy polishing a glass that's already spotless.]

Sorry for talking business so much, but, with Nyota's help, I've got a list of specific positions that need to be filled at the Welcome Center and the Youth Center.

[She holds up a piece of paper, upon which appears the following:

HELP WANTED!

Are you a people-person? Do you like helping others? Are you knowledgeable about the City's workings? Would you like to make a difference? If so, the WELCOME CENTER is currently looking for service-oriented individuals to fill the following positions:

GREETER
TASKS: Watch the Square and the network for new arrivals to the City. Give new arrivals a brief summary of their situation. Direct new arrivals to the Welcome Center.
DESIRABLE GREETER QUALITIES: Friendly, self-sufficient, responsible
HOURS: Flexible
NUMBER OF POSITIONS AVAILABLE: Three

WORKER
TASKS: Perform routine maintenance at the Welcome Center and/or Youth Center. See to the needs of guests if necessary.
DESIRABLE WORKER QUALITIES: Willingness to clean/do laundry/other day-to-day tasks, responsible
HOURS: Flexible
NUMBER OF POSITIONS AVAILABLE: Two (one at each location)

INFORMER
TASKS: Gather information about the City for future guides and update existing information. Write up brief reviews of City venues.
DESIRABLE GREETER QUALITIES: Self-sufficient, articulate, reliable
HOURS: Self-determined. Salary will be by the hour.

PUBLICIST
TASKS: Make City citizens aware of the existence of both Centers. Organize fundraising events as necessary.
DESIRABLE PUBLICIST QUALITIES: Friendly, motivated, creative
HOURS: Flexible
NUMBER OF POSITIONS AVAILABLE: One

YOUTH CENTER MANAGER
TASKS: Oversee day-to-day operations at the Youth Center. See to the needs of guests and help perform daily tasks as necessary. Ensure that guests are safe. Keep track of comings and goings.
DESIRABLE QUALITIES: MUST be responsible, friendly, and capable of overseeing others!
ADDITIONAL: Ideally, the manager will live in a room at the Youth Center (at no cost). If this isn't possible, the managerial position can be split between two individuals.

[With that lackluster sign-off, Penny turns off her network device and places it on the counter next to her mimosa. She's vaguely melancholy and working her way up to fine brood. It's unusual for her, but she's usually on the clock at the Welcome Center. As far as she's concerned, she's entitled to a little brooding when she's not working.]

Penny. You don't have to have the answers before asking for help. You can just say "I feel overwhelmed."

[What. It's that simple? Penny's reluctant to say it, but.]

I do feel overwhelmed. Trying to do something in this place--something organized and helpful, you know--never gets easier, and sometimes trying to keep things going feels more like drowning than anything else.

Why don't I take over the Youth Center? [She likes kids well enough, and it'd be nice to have a position with a little more responsibility. So few people want language lessons.] Or I can take the Welcome Center so you're free to focus on the Youth Center. Either way, it's one thing less on your plate. You work too hard, Penny. One person can only do so much.

[Penny just stares at Uhura, shocked that she's making such an offer. She finds her voice eventually.]

You'd really do that?

Of course. I could use a new challenge, anyway.

Thank you! [How about a hug? No? Yes? Penny is going to give her one regardless.] Thank you so, so much, Nyota. If you could take over at the Youth Center... really, I can't tell you how great that would be.

[Penny hugs are always okay. Uhura squeezes back tightly.]

I'm exited. So. What should I know?

Well... Stiles and Jem are helping out at the Youth Center, so getting to know them would be good. They both stay there, too. Jem's pretty new, but Stiles has been around forever.

Okay. What kinds of things does the Youth Center do? [It's embarrassing to admit how little she knows about this place she'll be managing.]

It just gives kids a place to go. There're the eight bedrooms, the rec room. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner is catered... the Blue Light takes care of that. There used to be self-defense classes, too, but those stopped.

[Uhura nods.]

Can you give me a tour of the place tomorrow?

Sure, done. It's a lot bigger than the Welcome Center, but I think you'll like it.

I'll drink to that.

[Uhura raises her glass in cheers.]
