Okay... this is strange.

[Saya glances over her shoulder, then focuses on her device with fair alarm.] First the waitress this morning told me I must have a hollow leg whatever that means, and then when I tried to stand up my leg was all weird. [She reaches down and thumps on it, and it produces a lovely echo.]

Then someone asked if I felt under the weather and... [She pans the device up to a very dark raincloud that appears to be localized only in the few square feet above her head.]

What kind of a curse is this?

((OOC: why, a Simon Says curse, of course! Saya must follow all "orders" today, with everything being taken literally. Be horrible to her please!))

A hollow leg means you eat a lot. More than your stomach can hold, so the rest must be going into your hollow leg.

[The explanation is automatic, but Uhura frowns with concern.]

Are you all right?

[Saya flushes at that. Her extreme eating is something of a source of embarrassment for her.] I... don't eat that much...

But yes, I'm okay. I think. I just don't really know what's going on.

It's just a figure of speech. Like "You're worth your weight in gold."

[Saya's reasonably sure she gets the meaning, but as she glances back down at the device... her arm has turned into gold.]

[She gasps, and taps it. A metallic sound tings from her arm.]

[Uhura's eyes go wide]

Holy shit.

[~~Leeet's just sidestep that one.~~]

What's happening to me?!

I don't know.

[Her mind works furiously, trying to figure this out.]

Your arm changed after I said... [Better not repeat it.] Maybe it has something to do with the things you hear.

That makes sense... [This benign comment is interrupted by a look of horror. God, she lives with Karl and Diva. She's going to be in a heap of trouble if they get hold of this one.]

What's wrong?

Nothing... I just don't really think I want to be played with like that all day. I don't live with very nice people.

[Now she's even more worried.]

Why don't you come stay the night at my place? We've got plenty of room. [She switches to Russian with a quick smile.] And you could practice your Russian with Pavel.

That's nice of you, but I'm not supposed to leave for that long. [Of course she does leave to see Setsuna, but this is a public feed and she doesn't want more trouble.]

Of course. I understand.

[She understands that Saya is in a much worse situation than she thought.]

[Did you think she would just leave it at that? Hell no. But Uhura has the sense not to say anything that might get Saya in trouble on a public feed.

She switches to Russian as a double protective measure. It may be a little harder for Saya to understand, but hopefully even if one of the people she lives with manages to catch this feed, they won't know the language.]

Saya, do you need help getting out?

[She blinks in surprise, and tries to think in Russian as best she can. Her grammar isn't the best, but it works.]

I'll be okay. They haven't hurt me, but if I leave they might hurt someone else.

Like they hurt Charlie.

[Uhura remembers finding the other woman's body, and the thought makes her sick.]

Yes. So I have to stay for now.

Saya... [Uhura doesn't know what to say to that. It's a terrible situation; it's not okay just because they haven't attacked Saya herself.

But Uhura can't tell the young woman to just get out anyway. She can't tell Saya to put her friends at risk like that. She can't promise Saya that she'll find a way to keep everyone safe.]

If you ever, ever need out, you tell me. All right?

[It's the best she can do for now.]

[It's a tempting offer. Too tempting, maybe. Saya leaving won't help anything -- and she's not even sure she wants to, anymore. Something draws her to stay, and until she finds out who she is she can't imagine leaving.]

I will. But I think the only way I'll get my memories back is to stay there.

It's okay. Really. [She's convinced herself that it is, in any case.]

[No, it's not, but Uhura doesn't have a choice except to let it be for now.]

Just as long as you remember.

Mm. [It's not exactly an agreement, but the best she can do.]
