[ There appears to be a new worker at the Jasmine Dragon. Immaculately dressed with clean makeup, she's an enthusiastic waitress with a flawless smile. It isn't Berthier, of course, but a young brunette with strangely empty eyes. Her name is Yasmine; does anyone remember hiring her? ]

[ She's an efficient worker, that Yasmine, but everyone who leaves one of her tables seems to be leaving with a rain cloud over their heads. Must be a hard day in the city. ]

[Uhura doesn't stop by the tea shop that often -- she likes Charlie and Rapunzel, but she's not much of a tea drinker -- but today's the kind of cold that just demands tea.

She smiles at Yasmine.]

Are you new? I haven't seen you around here before.

[This would be the first time he's contacted someone unsolicited, but it's -- fine, right? She offered. Sort of.]

Hello? [Is there some protocol for greetings on these things? He doesn't even have phones back home okay] This is Zelgadis, we spoke twice before... [In case his distinctive voice wasn't a clue.]

[Unfortunately for Zel, he catches Uhura before she's taken in the dark energy. She sounds (and is!) pleased to hear from him.]

Of course! I'm glad you called. How are you?

[He nearly sighs in relief. She's so good at not being awkward.]

Managing. This place is different, but it's not really that different at the core of things... [work, money, lodging. Avoid people as best he can.]

[He clears his throat, realizing with some embarrassment that he's rambling.] I was hoping you wouldn't mind helping me with something. I want to search for some information but I don't understand much of the vernacular when it comes to technology. [And it might hold some hope for him, who knows?] If -- the offer's still open, that is.

[The woman turns her head slowly, smiling.]

Yes. That is right.

[Her head inclines towards Uhura, attentive.]

[There's something strange about that smile.]

I'd like some tea, please. Earl Grey, hot. Can I just sit anywhere?

[She bows politely as she goes to make the tea.]

[Uhura takes an empty seat. Polite, but not very friendly for a waitress.]

[Sometime after Uhura has received her tea, Chekov enters, orders a coffee (not his first of the day, and, in spite of the hour, very possibly not his last), and helps himself to a seat next to his superior.]

Uhura, hello.

[Just saying hi, drinking his weight in coffee, and dismissing Uhura's unusually terse greeting as stress or something. The usual.]

[Penny treats herself to exactly one thing in life, and that one thing is chai tea once a week. She's pleased to see that there's apparently a new worker at the Jasmine Dragon, too; Charlie and Rapunzel could use some help.

She seats herself and waits for the new worker to finish with her current customer.]

[Raikov has made a habit out of going to the Jasmine Dragon for tea when he isn't stuck with Nathan. Russians and their tea time. It's very important. He walks in and looks around for a bit, trying to find an open table when he spots Penny]

Penny!

Hey, Raikov!

[She waves him over, still waiting on her order.]

What's up?

Not much.

[He joins her at the table]

Thought I'd treat myself to some tea here. I usually make my own but felt like I needed a change of pace. How about you?

A change of pace, huh? I'm just treating myself. It's a once-a-week thing.

[She doesn't dilly-dally, turning in a sharp pivot on high high heels. She clicks over to Penny briskly.]

Good afternoon.

[Her smile is a brief flicker.]

Hey there. Did you just start working here?

[Penny is all about the dilly-dallying.]

I did. Yes.

[Her posture is perfect, standing attentively.]

How may I help you.

Afternoon of the 30th. Open.

[ Todd only comes by the shop occasionally, though it has been with growing frequency. Neil is busy at the bookstore and he's off today himself, though, and there is something about a young man sitting alone, nursing a cup of tea and poring over a notebook on a cold day that part of him can't resist. That part, of course, is absurd, romantic part of him most given to overplayed cliches. What can be said, he's still young.

So he takes a seat near the window and waits, silent as he patiently watches the City go on outside. ]

[She is heralded by the sound of her heels, gleaming black and as immaculate as the rest of her dress. She looms over him, slightly too close.]

Welcome. How may I help you. Would you like to try the day's special.

[mumbled_truth]

[ He's a bit startled by how close she is, being a bit apprehensive about his personal space and crowds - but he collects himself, offering a nervous smile. ]

Hi-- thank you... Um.

What is the special today?

Hojicha. A roasted tea.

[No comment on the taste She wouldn't know. And his nervous attitude doesn't cue her to step back from him.]
