Action || My Good Side

[ The woman working in Lucy's shop does not resemble Lucy in any way except for the long, blonde hair. She's nearly six foot tall, a great deal curvier and she's wearing a skirt that goes down to her knees along with a conservative, peter pan collar blouse. She's got on pumps with heels that barely top two inches and a strand of pearls around her neck.

If one chooses to speak to her, they'll find her accent is still there, but her voice is softer, more refined and restrained.

The 'real' Lucy is sitting on a stocking stool in the corner of the shop, her elbow on her knees, her chin in her hand as she watches the 'ideal' her. There's a pout on her face as well as something that's chagrined and a bit ashamed. The 'real' Lucy is wearing a very short, bright yellow mini dress and black platform heels that are 4 and a 1/2 inches tall.

She's literally been put in the corner by her 'better' self.

Not a fun day.]

[Theo walks by the shop and glances inside of it as he does so. Stops, turns around and walks back to stare through the window.]

[Lucy's ideal self sees the man staring in the window and smiles at him, then goes to the door, opening it.]

Would you care to come inside?

Oh... um....

[No. That's not Anna... sadly.]

[Chekov swings by Lucy's shop on his run, hoping she won't mind a little sweat. Hopefully someone has had better luck with this curse. Judging by the look of the buxom blonde he sees when he lets himself in, there's no such luck.

Actual-Lucy looks rather put out.]

What do you think of this curse, Lucy?

[ The doorway bell chimes as Li drifts in. Wandering through the aisles, he selects a hemp bodywash and a mint lotion of some sort (such extravagance!), then makes his way to the counter. There, his eyebrows crawl like caterpillars up his hairline. ]

Um...

[ Apparently the City -- or Lucy -- decided her Better Half was a Stepford Wife. ]

[ Zinc looks between the pair of them, up and down. Rudely. ]

[Lucy gets up from her place in the corner, shooting the taller blonde a look. It's still her shop ~~too~~]

Sorry, can we help you?

[Better!Lucy shoots the shorter blonde a glare.] Why don't you come on in, Sugar? I'll get you something to drink. You look like you could use it.

[When Chekov lets himself in, Better-Lucy approaches Chekov with a smile. Actual-Lucy springs up from her seat in the corner.]

Don't you even think about it! [Chekov, you wanted a cat-fight over you, didn't you?]

And why not? He's my boyfriend. I love him. I should greet him appropriately.

[Better!Lucy has no problem using the words boyfriend or love. Actual-Lucy seems to waver a bit before she squares her jaw and responds.]

Touch him and I swear I will throw my shoe at you and my shoe will cause more damage than yours.

[Better-Lucy gives her counterpart a condescending smile.]

Oh, Sweetheart. Violence certainly isn't the answer. We ought to let Pavel choose.

[That makes Actual-Lucy look like she's going to choke on something. The problem with Better-Lucy, is that Actual-Lucy realizes that the other one is better in so many ways ~~or so she thinks~~. She presses her lips together and crosses her arms over her chest.]

Not liking it much. You?

[Better-Lucy won't miss the chance to chime in.] I think it's fantastic. Everyone could use some improvement. It's a good thing to want to improve ones self.

[Stepford Wives have multiple good points! The Stepford Wife approaches Li with a bright smile.]

It's so good to see you. How can I help you, Honey?

[Real!Lucy is just going to sit in her corner and see how this goes for the moment.]

[Better!Lucy lives by the motto 'kill them with kindness' so she approaches the woman with a smile and a tone of voice that wouldn't melt butter.]

Good Afternoon, Sugar. How can I help you today?

[Lucy just rolls her eyes and gestures to better!her.]

Or in real people words, if you need something, hollar, 'kay?

Sorry... you reminded me of my sister-in-law.

[He'll come in anyway. Just to see what's around.]

[He had absolutely no intention of causing any such thing. In fact, he drifts towards Lucy as she fights with her... er, "better" twin. Chekov is somewhat intimidated by the fake Lucy's height and... assets.]

[to "better" Lucy] Please try to not be offended, but you are not my girlfriend. I don't know you.

[to Lucy] Not liking it much, either. It was fun for an hour, maybe, but then I grew tired of me being better at everything than I am. There is only so much improvement an individual should strive for.

[That wasn't directed at the more curvaceous Lucy, but it was pitched with the intention of her hearing it.]

How kind of you, assuming you like your sister-in-law. [This from better!Lucy. Real!Lucy is muttering to herself:]

oh good, there are perfect people out there that aren't a curse.

[He's making excellent decisions. Heck, Lucy is intimidated by her twin's height and assets.]

But that's the thing, isn't it? You do know me. I'm the better version of Lucy. Everything wrong with her is right in me.

[For her part, real!Lucy wants to crawl in a hole, one that doesn't allow tall, buxom blondes. She edges toward Pavel a bit more until her shoulder is pressed against his arm.]

I think I got tired of her the moment I found out she was me.

[Oh, Curvaceous Lucy heard it and she is not amused.]

Well now, that's not polite, is it? Excluding one from your conversation. [Except that the conversation is about her...]

Anna? It'd be hard not to like her.

[Anna isn't perfect...

He smiles at the Real!Lucy]

Hi there.

[Chekov addresses the other Lucy first.]

That still makes you a stranger to me, and I did come here to speak with the Lucy that I know. Consider rudeness one of my many flaws.

[He puts an arm around real!Lucy's shoulders and gives her a half-hug.]

That soon? I stopped enjoying my company sometime between when he began pointing out flaws in my theories concerning the nature of the City and when he showed me how incompetent I am at fighting.

[Fake!Lucy smiles at that.]

Then I shall certainly take that as a compliment. [She casts a glance at real!Lucy.] I'm Lucy.

[In real!Lucy's eyes this version of her is perfect and she hates it. She waves at Theo]

Hey. I'm usually Lucy. Today I'm...diluted version or something. [It was nice though, that Theo said hit o her as well.]

[real!Lucy leans into Chekov's hug. Fake!Lucy sniffs and appears more than a bit put out.]

One should always strive to be their very best. [She does step back though and head toward the register to straighten that out.]

Well...look at her. [Lucy nods toward the blonde at the register.]So both of our perfect selves are giant jerkwads?

[Perfect!Lucy glances over then.] Do you really have this organized by color? That's ridiculous! [She turns her attention back to reorganizing the area.]

[He shoots fake!Lucy an apologetic look, but keeps his attention trained on the real one.] Jerkwads? Mine meant well, I think, but his attempts at helping me were... demeaning. Not so demeaning as yours is. There are reasons the universe doesn't allow for perfect beings.

[He's amused... still. Anna's full name is Adrianna and his fiancee is Adrienne. (And their brother - they're triplets- is Adrian) Their parents weren't up on creativity.)

[ (But permasmiles are creepy!) ]

[ 'Li' reddens, either at the casual Honey, or the bright smile. Shuffling closer, his eyes flit to the contrast of pearls against skin for a moment before he snaps them up to a respectable level and-- Oh. Right. ] I just need to. Um. Have these rung up. [ He holds his selections up with a nervous smile -- then pretend-suddenly notices Lucy. His relief is considerable. And all-too-apparent. ] Ah! Hello Miss Lucy!

[She smiles lazily.]

You sound like a hick, either way.

[Someone here is a snotty New York rich bitch...]

[Neil comes in for his shift, puts down his backpack in the staff area and does a double take when he comes out. Looking from one Lucy to the... um, other with a wary look.]

Uh... boss?

[Chekov really is the best not!Boyfriend ever. Real Lucy appreciates it, even if fake Lucy obviously doesn't.]

Mine tried to help me for about fifteen minutes and then I told her off. She decided after that I was uncivilized and incapable of improvement.

[Fake Lucy maintains a neutral expression, her smile fading the slightest bit.] The truth hurts, but one is never beyond improvement if one desires to improve.

[Real Lucy snorts.] She's like a really demeaning life coach.

[Then he's used to names that are the same or simular.

If Lucy had read the book or paid any attention to the movie, she might realize that but as it is, she just waggles her fingers in a wave.]

Hi Theo.

[Fake Lucy is still all smiles and charm.] It is a pleasure to meet you, Theo. [She flips her hair.] Unambitious seems to be the most likely.

[Real Lucy shrugs a bit.] Point of view I guess?
