[ VOICE ]

[From the sound of it, the angel has no idea he's being recorded.]

You know, it's not that I mind this City, exactly; it's less pleasant some days than others, to be sure, but all in all I can accept I'm meant to be here, whether or not I know why. Ineffability and all that. One gets used to it, after a time, and certainly I've had plenty of that.

Still, it is... well, between you and I, if I'm honest, it's a bit lonesome at the moment. My fault, really, for being a bit of a creature of habit. But I'm hardly accustomed to, er, these sort of comings and goings.

[There's a soft huff of breath which he will insist is not a sigh, and a faint rustling in the background.]

But, one never knows. I'd best keep you in some semblance of presentable shape, or I'll never hear the end of it if Crowley does come back.

[ooc; no inner monologue, so he's soliloquizing at Crowley's houseplants. between Crowley being out-on-hiatus and Dulcie leaving, sad angel is saaaad]

Naturally. A man seeks his own destiny and no other. Will or nill. Any man who could discover his own fate and elect therefore some opposite course could only come at last to that selfsame reckoning at the same appointed time, for each man's destiny is as large as the world he inhabits and contains within it all opposites as well.

Well, thanks!

Well, sure. I mean, who likes to think of himself as inevitably fated, right? [Asks the fated being somewhat rhetorically.] It makes things seem futile in the extreme. Better to hold to the idea of endless possibilities even if those possibilities are all inevitable, in and of themselves.

Unless, of course, you're the kind of person who does, in fact, believe in fate and destiny and you're basically okay with that. I know someone like that. That's why I say that.

Oh, now it's getting complicated.

No, it's just a matter of is. For you, at any rate.
