[Those who knew Meyer well enough to visit the casino -- or to work there -- might have noticed that he hadn't been there for the last two days. That was unlike him; normally, he couldn't stand to be away from supervising any of his projects for long. When he turns the video on on Saturday morning, though, there's something different about him.]

I'll say one thing -- going home and coming back here sure changes your perception of the way time moves in general.

[Maybe that's it. He does look older, somehow, his features slightly sharper.]

As near as I can tell, it's been two days since I was last in the City.

[He'd gone back and viewed network posts, tried to figure out some kind of timeline, and ultimately guessed fairly correctly.]

So. Two questions. First of all, am I too optimistic in hoping nobody wrecked my casino? Second of all, does anybody have any cigarettes? I could've sworn I had some in my pocket, but...

[He pats his pocket and comes up empty-handed.]

And the ones that were in my drawer're gone, too.

[He sounds more perturbed about the lack of nicotine than about the fact that he had, apparently, gone home and come back.]

[[OOC: Yes, Meyer has been canon updated -- he's now from near the end of Season 3 -- and he's experiencing the Cold Turkey curse this weekend, which means that he's not going to be able to get any cigarettes all weekend. Tragic.]]

I guess I should've figured that me disappearing from work for two days would raise some red flags.

Well, as long as it's still standing, and nobody's gotten severely injured, I'll count it as a victory.

Even if, uh... [She looks down, bites on her lip as though she doesn't want to say the next part.] A guy came in last night, stayed all night, and kept winning. We're broke.

[A total lie, she just wants to see how he reacts.]

Bring him in for another round or two. We'll get the money back one way or another.

[There's not even a flicker of concern crossing his face. He doesn't know whether Ruby's telling the truth, but if she is, that's hardly insurmountable.]

[Her eyebrows raise considerably, and she pouts a little.]

Here I thought I'd actually found a way to scare you for a minute.

[It might scare you, Ruby, to hear what the various methods of getting that money back entail.]

And that's where you went to? How long were you gone?

[A pause.]

Or two years. Apparently, they add up to the same thing.

Can't blame a girl for trying.

[It would definitely scare her. She's fine working for a gangster as long as she can pretend that side of it doesn't exist.]

...You believed me, though, right? I guess I've gotten good at practising my poker face.

Oh, that's wonderful! I won $16 last night, so I guess I'm doing something right.

I can't speak to the why, exactly. As far as I know, it's pretty much random, or at least up to the Deities' discretion. The how is inexplicable so far, too. All I know is that two days ago, I left from here, spent two years at home, and came back here two days later in City time but two years older in my own time.

It's pretty common, if you have people from home here, yeah. It can make for some interesting conversations.

That's putting it pretty mildly. [ The conversation could've been worse, she imagines, but it still wasn't something she wanted to deal with again. Kelly was supposed to already know what she'd been going through and not talk about it. ]
