[Jimmy has always enjoyed reading, but maybe not quite this much. As he's wandering down the street, he's so focused on his book that he's not looking where he's going, and yes, he might be getting in other peoples' way.

If he bumps into someone, though, they'll find that he doesn't snap at them and tell them to watch where they're going. Instead, he simply tries to draw them into a conversation about literature.

And it looks like he's walking without any trace of a limp whatsoever... strange...]

[He nods slowly, smiling gratefully at the hand on his arm.]

Yeah, I guess we did okay. Seems like you did, at least. Guess we both had dads who cared more about business than their kids, huh?

Yeah, seems so. But they're not in the City, anyway, they can't hurt us here.

[She holds out that hand then, for him to shake.]

I'm Ruby.

[trenchknives]

[He shakes her hand with a smile.]

I'm Jimmy.

[spotlighted]

It's wonderful to meet you, Jimmy.

[trenchknives]

You too, Ruby. Hey, you wanna grab a drink sometime?

[spotlighted]

[She brightens considerably at that.] I'd absolutely love to.

[trenchknives]

I'm workin' a lot lately, but maybe sometime after work.

[spotlighted]

I work late evenings, so sometime between you finishing work and me starting, perhaps?

[trenchknives]

Sure. I'm usually off by five. We could go somewhere nice, have a bite to eat, talk about how much better we turned out than our families...

[He grins teasingly.]

[spotlighted]

[She grins right back.] That sounds swell. I sing at ten, so I'd need to leave about 9:30 - or if you're free Wednesdays, Sundays or Mondays, those are my days off.

[trenchknives]

I can do any of those days, if it's after five. I've been lookin' for a second job, but my evenings're open for now.

[spotlighted]

Okay, great. Well, if you might get a job in the evenings sometime, then we'd better make it soon.

[trenchknives]

Sure. What about this Wednesday?

[spotlighted]

That sounds just perfect! I'll look forward to it.

[trenchknives]

Great. I'll see you then. 'n sorry again about bumpin' into you.

[spotlighted]

I'm not sorry that you did. It's wonderful to have met you, Jimmy.

[And he strolls off, smiling.]
