0205: Accidental Video
[It's dark out, but as Rain moves to pick something up it becomes clear that she's in her greenhouse. There are candles lit and she's wearing a long, loose, comfortable looking sort of dress. She's singing something very softly under her breath, too lightly for it to be clearly picked up. She moves to the side, settling down onto her small fleece throw with a cupcake with a candle on it.
She's quiet for a moment, then closes her eyes, face looking calm and hopeful by the light of the candles. After a long moment she blows out the candle and smiles.]
[ooc: Today is Rain's birthday and she's taking a quiet moment to celebrate.]

and he wasn't invited? For shame...]I take it congratulations are in order?
[ there's a lingering smile on his lips, leftovers from the soft look he had given his screen while he watched her move about the greenhouse. There were times he (honestly) did not mind the quirkiness of the City. Not when it led to such moments as these.
In this moment, at this time, Rain was peace. ]

Oh! I... I guess?
[She smiled at him, shy, but so happy to see him.]
I don't usually...
I never had...
I just thought maybe it would be fun to, you know, pretend I was having a real birthday. You know, like people in books?

[ birthdays were after all, supposed to be a grand event. Life in the castle taught him that well with how everyone carried on. ]

I know today is my birthday!
I just, well... I think maybe I remember a party when I was tiny tiny. When my moth- I think I had one.
[And now she's looking very wistful.]
But not after she died.
But in books people always - they seem to have such fun, so I thought maybe...

[ he's teasing slightly but he can feel his own hollow in the pit of his stomach where a mother should have been. It was difficult, still, to remember that his mother died giving him life. ]
You thought maybe you'd have a little bit of fun too? [ he chuckled ] I do think the whole point of a party is to invite all your closest friends. [ and sometimes not so close friends, but that was a state affair, hardly something Rain would be interested in (and nor should she be). ] Surely you must have at least one person you'd invite.

[She tries to tease back, but it's a sad thing because she doesn't like to think about that day when she saw the Bad Man kill her mom.]
Oh gosh... I... I wouldn't want to impose on people. What if I asked and they didn't want to come? Then they'd feel funny and I'd be sad.

Do you want to come? I'd like to have you here.
no subject
I supposed I'd have to say yes.
[ and contain that gleeful dance of joy that's currently taking place in his head. ]

[And she's beaming now.]
Really? I'm in the greenhouse! And I have extra cupcakes!
no subject
[ he's certain they'd come, if for no other reason then Merlin seems to be getting "ideas" lately. It may even do them good. ]
no subject
Do you think they'd come?

I guess I never thought...
[And now she's thinking.]
Neil, maybe? He's always nice to me.
no subject
[ just not too fast. He doesn't like the idea of leaving Rain alone on a day like today.
jealous much?]no subject
But mostly I'll be happy if you come.
no subject
Oh, well... but just one isn't quite a party as nice as it sounds. [ he gulped ] But, if you want... we can always do something tomorrow.
[ just the two of them. ]
no subject
[And she's beaming, her face glowing in the candlelight.]
Oh gosh, yes! I'd like that a lot!

Re: [Video]

A-ah, but, it's funner together! And, beshides, you're off to a gweat shtart, but you're misshing all kinds of ingredientsh! Like, like balloons and shtreamers—

Re: [Video]
Well... sure. If you want to, I guess. You don't mind? For someone you don't even know?
My name is Pinoko. I'm the wife! My besht dish is omelettesh shunny shide-up! Pinoko always chelebrates with curry. There, now, it's your turn! [Yes, she's really this earnest and friendly, even when speaking with perfect strangers.
This is how she gets kidnapped so often.]Re: [Video]
I'm Rain. I'm not a wife or anything. I just work at the Library. I... I'm not anything special really. Just Rain.
You work at a library? You gotta be shmart, right? Are you a libwarian? [Too many questions! Slow down, Pinoko. And while she's making idle chit-chat, she's gathering things to take with her.]
Libwarian-Wain! Pinoko likesh the shound of that. Where're you shtaying?
Re: [Video]
I just put things back on shelves and stuff. But it likes me.
Right now I'm in my greenhouse on the Library roof.
