This weekend has been fascinating, to say the least. While I'm well aware that most -- perhaps all -- of our current visitors will be returning to their respective worlds soon, I can't help but question the purpose of such an event.

[There's a pause.]

Why is it necessary to bring "guests" here, then immediately get rid of them? Is it simply an attempt at irritation? The potential opportunity for people who have missed each other to see each other once again, only to be parted? I'm well aware that the "deities" often have ill-conceived plans, but this particular turn of events strikes me as inherently pointless.

If anyone ran Rapture into the ground, it was you and your ridiculous followers, those parasites who wanted to disregard what my city gave them. Don't blame me for your ludicrous ideas.

[There's a deep sigh.]

You still don't get it, do you?

You were the one who started this, not I nor anyone else. Fontaine might have been a crook, but you betrayed your own ideals when you took what was his for your own. You betrayed your whole damn city for that, and you left us to fight over the scraps.

All we want is for Rapture to return to her former glory, Mr. Ryan. That's all we've ever wanted. We're fighting for her just as much as you.

Betrayed my own ideals? Hardly. You simply demonstrate that you're far too myopic to truly understand my ideals.

You and your "revolutionaries" want to destroy Rapture, not to save it. Your only aim is to see it in pieces, so you can triumphantly proclaim that you were right, that I caused its downfall. You're no better than Fontaine.

You had him murdered in cold blood, and instead of putting his assets where they rightfully belonged, you slipped them into your own pocket.

Tell me, Mr. Ryan. How is that a healthy tug on that Great Chain of yours?

Do you really think I'm interested in engaging in this sort of discussion with you? We both know that you're nothing more than an opportunistic troublemaker.

It's no coincidence that you only started your ridiculous crusade after Fontaine was dead -- you simply jumped onto the bandwagon of a dead man in order to make some kind of point about my perceived failings. That doesn't make you a hero of the people, it simply makes you another parasite.

Perceived to all but you, and isn't that damning? And if I'm just another parasite, then so be it, but I stand as a parasite like every other citizen of Rapture who's felt your back turn on them.

Will you kill all of them, Mr. Ryan, just like you want to kill me? I've heard a thing or two about your wall of trophies. What will you do when the last man in Rapture lies dead at your feet, his blood on your hands?

To all but me?

[He laughs humorlessly.]

Do you really hold yourself in such high regard that you believe that every citizen of Rapture follows you blindly? Do you really think that you have any chance of winning, Atlas? You're just as insignificant as every other criminal that has passed through the city -- in five years, no one will remember your name.

Even if I'm dead and gone, at the rate things are going now, no one will remember Rapture five years from now.

Rapture will not be so easily forgotten, nor will it fall victim to people like you.

Five years from now, we will have recovered and rebuilt, with the strength of will that brought us there in the first place, and when the citizens ask "Who is Atlas?", they'll be asking because your name will be excised from the history of my city.

Fall victim? Have you really not been listening to a single word I've said?

[He sighs again.] A pity, that. It's no wonder we'll not be able to reach any kind of peaceful resolution.

You were never interested in a peaceful resolution. You wanted me dead and gone from the start.

I only wanted what was right and just. If you must be dead and gone to achieve that end, then so be it.

What was "right and just"? I don't think you have any true interest in that, Atlas. I think you do what you do for your own selfish reasons.

I'm sure that is what you think. But I'm also sure that what you think isn't necessarily the shining beacon of truth you've always made it out to be.

Nor are your thoughts necessarily a shining beacon of truth, but I'm sure you already knew that. I believe we can agree that our opinions will never align in most matters.
