You made your choices, and you paid your price.

I made the choice to save you, twice. If I had let you die, I could have saved myself. Did I make the right choice? What did that choice cost me?

No, it's not! Your right to choose what happens to your life ended when you chose to kill Olivia. The right thing to do was to confess to the police and face a jury of your peers.

Saving me doesn't erase what you did to Olivia.

So the right thing would have me spend two years in prison before being executed. I did that. I confessed to the jury, I deserved what I received.

I'm not looking for redemption. I just want to know why you--you, the police officer, with complete knowledge of right and wrong and the moral high ground--abandoned me after I saved you.
