I fall under the group of young adults unimpressed by a capitalist plot to sell more and more to the masses in love with being in love. Plus there's the whole drama that comes with being single on this day, like it dooms us or something.

this as in the whole we can't leave or we might drown thing?

The poor impressionable youths that feel they have to express their 'love' in the form of paper cards, wilted flowers and sweets. All of which are over priced, as evidence by the fact that they are all on sale the day after. And gone within a few days, because that's what love is isn't it? An empty box of chocolates, some sickly looking roses and a crumpled card that plays some cliché 'Love song'.

And there is also what the commercial heart's shape is based on.

I feel like I could go on about this for hours. I'm not sure that's healthy.

Right. Let's maybe not. It contradicts my attempt to spin this whole day into a more possitive experience.

Precisely. It's probably better that we don't. I get the feeling that were it not for the canals, this is the sort of conversation that could potentially end with us burning Valentine's Day cards in the center of town. Or something.
